The Big 12 Conference is one of the best basketball conferences this season and it is well represented when Big 12 programs play in front of national audiences.

Quite a few schools in the conference have a rich basketball history, and all Big 12 schools have great tradition, but how do Big 12 hoops fans rank in terms of consistency, attendance and enthusiasm?

Let's take a look at the best basketball fans across the conference.

    Where does your school rank?

12. Oklahoma Sooners

1 of 12

Like all other schools, OU will pack the house for big games.

But this season may be different, as the Sooners are in a serious slump.

Go to the 2:00 mark in the video and take note of the crowd. Not very loud and not many people in attendance. This video was taken while Blake Griffin was on the OU basketball team, and it's still easy to spot open seats.

OU is a football school, and the way the Sooners are playing right now, it looks to stay that way.

11. Colorado Buffaloes

2 of 12

While the Colorado Buffaloes are playing extremely well this season, it has been known traditionally that the stands are fairly empty throughout the course of the season.

With the winning streak in Boulder right now, expect a few more fans to show up.

But over the past few seasons fans haven't been consistent when it comes to attending games.

This picture shows how a lot of the CU games have turned out the past couple of seasons.

10. Texas Tech Red Raiders

3 of 12

Texas Tech is in a downward spiral, and so is attendance.

This video is a classic example of how the turnout at Texas Tech has been lately when Kansas or Texas isn't coming to Lubbock.

Texas Tech has great fans, but the consistency for Red Raider hoops has been severely slacking.

9. Nebraska Cornhuskers

4 of 12

Nebraska is playing well this year, and the program should be given more credit than it has received.

But unless a big opponent is in the building, don't expect the largest of crowds.

Nebraska loves its football, and student attendance at basketball games can be up or down.

Rushing the court should be the result of a huge win, like over Kansas or Texas.

    But Creighton?

8. Baylor Bears

5 of 12

Baylor's students have been showing up pretty consistently since the uprising of the basketball program in the past few seasons.

Now that Baylor has gotten away from its dark past, the basketball program has been well supported by students and alumni.

Here's a video from the sold-out game against Kansas on Monday night.

As for the "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" chant while opposing teams are shooting free throws, I'd say you might want to leave that one at home.

7. Iowa State Cyclones

6 of 12

You may not realize it, but Iowa State actually has a pretty rowdy fan base when it wants to.

With the team under Fred Hoiberg this season, Hilton Coliseum has come alive, and students were bouncing off the walls for Kansas last week.

If Iowa State keeps winning, expect those attendance numbers to go up and the fans to be more intense.

6. Missouri Tigers

7 of 12

Mizzou won't fill every seat for every game, as quite a few seats are empty when playing smaller schools. But when the Tigers play schools like Kansas and Kansas State, you can bet Mizzou Arena will be filled.

Expect a great turnout for the rest of the season, as the Tigers are competitors for the Big 12 title.

One of MU's favorite chants, M-I-Z-Z-O-U!

5. Texas Longhorns

8 of 12

UT has put together another great season, and the fans are excited about the talent and youth of this team.

Texas fans love their football, but the basketball team gets a strong showing as well—another great environment for basketball.

Here's a video of the "Texas Fight" chant.

4. Kansas State Wildcats

9 of 12

The Octagon of Doom has become quite the place to be over the past few years.

Although Kansas State is struggling, you can bet that the Octagon will be packed with loud students in its upcoming Big 12 home games.

Altogether, the hoops fans of Kansas State have been pretty consistent over the past few seasons.

3. Oklahoma State Cowboys

10 of 12

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have pretty loyal fans when it comes to basketball.

Seeing as the Cowboys usually have a decent squad, attendance is up, and Gallagher-Iba Arena can get a little nuts when high-ranked opponents visit Stillwater.

The basketball version of Bedlam isn't nearly as intense as in football, but you can tell in this video how rowdy the OSU fans get for it.

2. Texas A&M Aggies

11 of 12

Texas A&M is playing well this season and is home of the sixth man.

When Reed Arena is jumpin', you don't want to be the opposing team. It gets loud in that place.

A&M has a great hoops fan base and an exciting environment from the students.

1. Kansas Jayhawks

12 of 12

There is no contest when it comes to the Jayhawks and basketball. KU fans are some of the biggest hoops fans in the country.

Kansas could sell out a game playing a bunch of third graders.

Not only is the student section filled at every game, but to get good seats fans camp out for a week at a time.

Kansas fans flat-out love basketball season.

This video is awesome. To get a glimpse of KU pregame videos and traditions, watch the whole thing.

If you want to skip forward to the students going crazy, go to the 3:50 mark and watch until the end.
