Now we are officially jealous of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino.
Chris Partlow of Next Impulse Sports happened upon this video of Pitino unveiling what has to be one of the coolest bottles of booze we have seen in a while.
I know I've carefully unwrapped the wax from the top of a Maker's Mark bottle more times than I care to admit, but actually dipping a bottle fashioned in your own likeness would be a far greater treat.
If you are wondering what spawned the snappy-looking commemorative bottles, Rocco Gasparro of WHAS 11 reports, "The bottle is the second of a three-year commitment by Maker’s Mark, which has pledged over $500,000 in support of UofL’s Academic Center of Excellence."
A lucky few will be able to get their hands on the red-and-black bourbon swag to show off to pals, because 12,600 bottles will be made available to a world mad for the whiskey.
According to Janet Patton of the Lexington Herald-Leader, bottles will go on sale this Friday. Anyone fortunate enough to acquire part of this special release can also make their way to the KFC Yum Center on June 13 to get the bottle autographed by Coach Pitino.
The first bottle of the three-bottle series was fashioned for football coach Charlie Strong back in July 2012. Something tells me this batch will be just as popular.
As for Pitino, this is just the latest chapter in an unforgettable year. He led Louisville to a national championship, was selected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, enjoyed the Kentucky Derby with an entry of his own and got his very first tattoo.
Yes, I guess you could say it's been a fairly good year.
