McDonald's All American Game 2012 Stats: Shabazz Muhammad Lives Up to Hype

Gabe ZaldivarJun 6, 2018

The McDonald's All-American Game is always about looking into the future, to see what these kids will do when they become men. In the case of Shabazz Muhammad, it's safe to say that it will be all good things.

There is no such thing as a sure thing in sports, but that hardly has us putting down our crystal balls in the form of amateur tournaments and all-star exhibitions.

The McDonald's All-American game is no different, and has always been a chance to see the special young stars of today and daydreaming of where they will land just a few years from now.

If you want to gamble on a superstar of tomorrow in the light of today, there was none better than Bishop Gorman High School's Shabazz Muhammad.

The name that sticks in your head like a commercial jingle is unnecessary because you remember the young man as soon as you see him play.

By the end of an exciting All-Star game, Muhammad came away the clear MVP and rightfully won the accolade.

He got off to a hot start and looked like the budding young talent that we had all be told about. He would finish with 21 points and six rebounds, making his decision on where to matriculate that much more intriguing.

He is the kind of player that could transform a program and bring a tremendous amount of tenacity and talent to the starting rotation.

He wasn't nearly the only player to standout on a night that was full of highlights. The West may have taken the game from the East, 106-102, but they did not own the talent.

East star Kyle Anderson showed a well-rounded game dropping a line that consisted of 13 points, eight assists, eight rebounds and four steals. It was a near-MVP game that solidifies him as a player of note heading into next season.

Not to be outdone, Rasheed Sulaimon added 18 points to give the West two dominant figures that gave them a solid win in an altogether brilliant game by all.

Another successful McDonald's All-American Game means the future of college basketball is in good hands.
