Duke Basketball: 5 Things That Prove You're a Serious Blue Devils Fan
The Duke Blue Devils have some of the best fans in all of college basketball, and they may even have the best. Many people profess to be die-hard Duke fans, but they do not know simple history about the team. These are five ways to tell if someone is a serious Blue Devils fan.
A fan does not need to do/think all of these things to be a serious fan, but it helps to meet a few of these requirements.
The next time you meet someone who claims to be a true Duke fan, see if they have these characteristics.
You Go to at Least One Duke Game Every Year
1 of 5A fan of any team wants to go to their team's games, and a true fan makes sure they go to at least one per year. Duke travels all over the country, so they cannot use the excuse that they "live too far away."
It is preferred that at least one game that they see is part of a preseason or postseason tournament, but it doesn't have to be so.
Whether the game is home or away, they'd better be decked out in Duke apparel.
You Know how to Spell “K-r-z-y-z-e-w-s-k-i”
2 of 5Mike Krzyzewski is the best coach that the Duke Blue Devils have ever had, but that is not an easy name to spell.
If a fan is serious about the Blue Devils they have seen/written the name enough times to know how to spell it.
You've Camped out in Krzyzewskiville
3 of 5This is the only thing on this list that I haven't done, but it's on my bucket list.
This alone will prove that you are a serious fan. If you aren't one going in, then you will be by the next morning. To camp outside of the stadium to be one of the first to enter is a sign of a true fan for any team, and it's no different for Duke.
If you've ever been to Krzyzewskiville when the students are camping out, then you have seen some of the best fans Duke has to offer.
You've Stood with the Cameron Crazies
4 of 5The Cameron Crazies are the best fan base in all of college basketball, and it is an honor to stand with them.
Most people think that you have to be a student to stand with the Crazies. However, for preseason games they will sell tickets giving the opportunity to stand with the Crazies for around $40.
I've done this once, and it is very exciting to feed off of the emotions of the Crazies.
You Think North Carolina Blue Is the Ugliest Color
5 of 5If you are a true Duke fan, then you hate North Carolina.
The two blues of Duke and UNC clash at least twice every year, and if you are a Duke fan, then you can't stand the sight of the powder blue of North Carolina.
