College Basketball: Kevin Anderson Fails Maryland by Not Landing Sean Miller

There are times when everything seems to be falling your way, then there is the kick in the plums and punch in the back of the head that brings one back to reality.

Athletic Director Kevin Anderson failed to deliver what he basically had promised University of Maryland basketball fans. He flew to Las Vegas to sign Sean Miller and announce him as the new head coach for the Maryland basketball program Monday morning.

Miller was the perfect fit for Maryland as a tough-nosed, East Coast guy who gets everything and then some out of his players. He's probably one of the five best recruiters in the country and was supposedly a sure thing for the job.

Miller was Maryland's to be had, and Anderson dropped the ball.

He promised Terps Nation heaven, now he must deliver purgatory, not Hell. Anderson needs to get a name that is going to keep Sterling Gibbs, Nick Faust and Justin Anderson at UMD.

He also needs to get a name that is going to make this huge slap in the face look like a mistake, because right now Anderson has his face slapped red, covered in yolk and wool pulled over his eyes.

Any other stupid metaphors I can throw out? 

Come Monday morning there is only one name Anderson can deliver, and only one man who will make the rest of us continued supporters of the basketball program.

Brad Stevens.

Stevens better be signed and moving in to his new house in College Park in the next week, or there could be a huge riot on the Maryland campus.

Get it done, Anderson. Just get it done.

Update: Brad Stevens and Mike Brey have both turned down the Maryland coaching job.
