What is going on with Michigan State basketball?
I am sure Tom Izzo is kicking himself for not taking an NBA coaching position as he opted to stay at Michigan State instead.
Who could blame the guy?
He still had most of his team intact from last year's Final Four run.
With Kalin Lucas, Draymond Green, Durrell Summers, and Korie Lucious returning, Michigan State was considered to be one of the top teams this year and they were expected to compete for the National Championship.
They were dismantled and embarrassed by Wisconsin today 82-56, their twelve consecutive years in a row of tournament appearances are currently in jeopardy and the word "overrated" is used to discuss their roster.
"O, How the Mighty Have Fallen."
Michigan State's basketball program is in shambles right now and coach Tom Izzo does not have any solutions.
After guard Korie Lucious, who carried the Spartans last year during March Madness, was suspended for the rest of the year for undisclosed reasons, the Spartans have fallen flat on their faces.
Everything is a mess right now for Spartan nation. Michigan State is sitting at a record of 13-10 and they are just 5-6 in the Big Ten.
This might be the worst team Izzo has ever featured and it may be a tough task for him to correct the glaring holes his team has.
His players are not executing the basic fundamentals and they are not playing with any energy. The fire players must have to play in basketball is nonexistent for Izzo's squad as they are playing a lackluster game.
Has Izzo lost his clubhouse after he suspended Lucious indefinitely?
Has the team's chemistry dissolved due to the absence of a key player?
We will never know the real answers as all we can do is speculate.
But the more Michigan State continues to falter, the more they will feel the heat and pressure from their fans and the media.
In the epic movie "300", King Leonidas rejects surrendering to Daxos as he exclaims, "Spartans never retreat! Spartans never surrender."
Never say never.
