The Texas loss Saturday was brutal.
The Jayhawks lost for the first time all year and for the first time at home in 69 attempts in one day. After the 15-minute mark in the first half, there was no doubt who the better team was on that given day.
With heavy hearts surrounding the passing of sophomore forward Thomas Robinson's mother combining with a cold shooting night and foul trouble for the Morris twins, the young Jayhawks just didn't really have a chance.
But with all that being said, the Jayhawks have a big week coming up. With Tuesday's game vs. the Colorado Buffaloes followed by a home game vs. hated rival Kansas State, the Jayhawks need to direct this ship back to its original course. All of Jayhawk Nation will find out the toughness of this young, but very talented team.
Bill Self needs Freshman Josh Selby to start living up to the hype he came in with. Also, the tall trees in the middle (yes, I'm looking at you, Morris twins) have got to stay out of foul trouble for this team to win.
As we have seen throughout most of this season, this team has the ability to make it deep into the postseason. But the Morris twins are the key for all of this to work.
We all knew the Jayhawks were eventually going to lose. Better to lose to a team like Texas rather than Nebraska, or heaven forbid our first loss come to the Missouri Tigers.
Thomas Robinson will not be with the team as they travel to Colorado. He will be returning east to be with his family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
