Allen is expected to be a strong contender for the Wooden Award at the end of the season. He averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last season. The junior will be helped by a loaded Blue Devils team that's ranked No. 1 in the preseason AP Top 25 and USA Today coaches polls.

Expectations will also be high for Oregon Ducks junior Dillon Brooks, though there are questions over his health after he had foot surgery in August.

Last Thursday, Ducks head coach Dana Altman told FanRag Sports' Jon Rothstein the star forward is doubtful for Oregon's opening game: "He's out of the boot and he's doing some non-contact stuff, but we still don't know. He has another meeting scheduled with the doctor next week, and we'll go from there."

College Basketball Talk tweeted that Brooks' true value ahead of the 2016-17 season remains somewhat in flux:

Brooks' counterpart in the Pac-12, California Golden Bears sophomore Ivan Rabb, should take a big jump after his freshman campaign. The No. 5 player in the 2015 recruiting class, according to Scout.com, Rabb posted 12.5 points and 8.6 rebounds a night in 2015-16.

Two seniors, Iowa State Cyclones guard Monte Morris and Villanova Wildcats guard Josh Hart, round out the All-America team. Both players will need to step up after their respective teams suffered significant personnel losses.

The Cyclones have to replace leading scorer Georges Niang as well as Abdel Nader. The reigning national champions, meanwhile, will be without Ryan Arcidiacono and Daniel Ochefu, two players pivotal to their title run.

That will put the spotlight on Morris and Hart as they look to live up to their preseason billing.
