College 3-Point Contest 2015: Winner, Score Results and Twitter Reaction
As if losing in the Elite Eight of the 2015 NCAA tournament weren't painful enough for Gonzaga Bulldogs guard Kevin Pangos, he also lost out on bragging rights as college basketball's best three-point shooter.
Although Pangos was victorious in the men's half of Thursday's college three-point shootout in Indianapolis, women's three-point winner Cassandra Brown of the Portland Pilots beat him by one point in the battle of the sexes.
Pangos' score of 20 looked tough to beat, but Brown started out her round making her first nine attempts, leaving herself with three racks with which to notch 11 points, which is exactly what the senior did.

Paul Pabst of The Dan Patrick Show commended Brown on her performance:
SB Nation's Hustle Belt offered a public service announcement to anybody who wants to test Brown's shooting acumen:
Pangos looked a sure bet to take home the battle of the sexes.
With a final score of 22, he beat out Alex Barlow of the Butler Bulldogs and Connecticut Huskies star Ryan Boatright. Barlow had home-court advantage, but he came up just one three shy of forcing a tie in the final.
Here's a look at the full scores from the event:
| Kevin Pangos | Gonzaga | 23 | 23 | 22 |
| Alex Barlow | Butler | 17 | 17 | 21 |
| Ryan Boatright | Connecticut | 15 | 17 | 9 |
| Pat Connaughton | Notre Dame | 20 | 14 | --- |
| Darrun Hilliard II | Villanova | 15 | --- | --- |
| Jordan Sibert | Dayton | 14 | --- | --- |
| Matt Carlino | Marquette | 13 | --- | --- |
| Corey Hawkins | UC Davis | 11 | --- | --- |
The fans inside Hinkle Fieldhouse made their allegiances known. They firmly backed Barlow and weren't afraid to revel in his opponents' failures, per Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
In the end, though, Pangos was simply too good. He posted the highest scores in both the first round and semifinals, and his hot shooting continued into the final round.
Michael Pointer of The Indianapolis Star wondered if Pangos was exorcising some demons from Gonzaga's 2013 loss to Butler:
"Pangos shot like he was still mad about Gonzaga losing in HInkle two years ago. He was on it. #Butler

San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates believes that Pangos is only the most recent in a long line of sharpshooters to suit up for the Bulldogs in recent years:
Take nothing away from Brown's performance, though. Although she didn't post incredible scores through the first two rounds, she did just enough to advance and saved her best stuff for the two most important rounds of the event.
You can view the women's results below:
| Cassandra Brown | Portland | 17 | 15 | 17 |
| Andrea Hoover | Dayton | 18 | 20 | 15 |
| Kelsey Harris | UC Davis | 17 | 14 | --- |
| Morgan Eye | Missouri | 21 | 14 | --- |
| Blake Dietrick | Princeton | 14 | --- | --- |
| Bonnie Samuelson | Stanford | 13 | --- | --- |
| Melissa Dixon | Iowa | 11 | --- | --- |
| Brittany Hrynko | DePaul | 7 | --- | --- |
Although Brown was a late add to the contest, her victory shouldn't have come as a huge surprise.
The Pilots' long-range specialist finished the 2014-15 season seventh in the country in three-point percentage.
