According to Bob Pompeani of KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, no reason was given by the school for Johnson's suspension:
If there is a silver lining to Johnson being suspended, it's that the Panthers have gotten accustomed to playing without the 6'6" star. He missed the team's final 20 games last year after tearing the ACL in his right knee against Wake Forest.
That's about the only positive for Pitt, as the team is losing one of its most prolific scorers. Johnson averaged 8.8 points per game last year and reached double figures in half of his games played, per ACC Sports:
The Panthers are starting the 2014-15 season unranked and without their top two scorers from last season (Lamar Patterson and Talib Zanna). Johnson was expected to take on a more prominent role in the offense to make up for those losses, but head coach Jamie Dixon will have to find other alternatives.
