College Basketball Jan. 24, 2009: Mitch Picks Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Butler

Wis.-Milwaukee (12-7) at No. 17 Butler (17-1)

The Line: Butler -13

Butler has been red hot and is looking to put away the regular season title in the Horizon League in record fashion.

I think Butler definitely gets the win today against the Wisconsin-Milwaukee but I'm always hesitant about laying the big point spreads in conference matchups where there is always a good deal of history which seems to motivate even seemingly lesser teams.

Butler got off to a slow start in their last game but really poured it on in the second half, something that the good teams over the years seem to be able to do.

The Panthers on the other hand stated cold last game and stayed chilly as they dropped their second Horizon league game out of their last four matchups.

Butler hasn't taken the east road to their 17-1 record, the Bulldogs have the No. 7 RPI and No. 45 strength of schedule compared to Wisc.-Milwaukee's 129 RPI and 174 SOS. Wisc.-Milwaukee is just 2-7 against the spread in their last nine road games and 0-6 against the spread in their last six games when they are and underdog of 13 points or more.

The favorite in this series has covered four of the last five games, the home team has covered four of the last five times, and Butler is 5-2-1 against the spread in their last eight meetings, I don't see these things changing today.

Mitch's Pick: Butler -13
