Man I Got That Swag- Jets Make a Run at The Super Bowl

Ben TraynhamJan 23, 2010

Even if the Jets don't win this weekend, their season will be considered a huge success. Ā Rex Ryan has proven to be a great coach and a great motivator. Ā Mark Sanchez, although he will not have as much luck next year, has shown that he is not a draft bust, and he truly is the "Sanchize." Ā And, Darrelle Revis brings swag like no other. Ā Now- to my pick and my reasons why. Ā Jets 24-20

Although it is extremely hard for me to pick against Peyton Manning (I am already second guessing myself as I am writing this article), Peyton alone is not enough to beat the Jets. Ā The Jets, as everyone knows, has the best defense in the NFL. Ā Their run defense is ranked 8th, and their pass defense is ranked 1st. Ā Since the Colts can't run the football (ranked dead last in the league), they will have to rely on the veteran combo of Peyton to Dallas. Ā It will remain to be seen how the young hands of Collie and Garcon will hold up. Ā I will promise you one thing though, Darrelle Revis will have at least one interception. Ā I also predict that the Jets Defense as a whole will have at least 2 turnovers, and at least one of them will be converted into a touchdown by the Sanchize. Ā That is how the Jets play. Ā They come out, force mistakes, and they capitalize on them. Ā Rex Ryan has these guys playing tough football, and they are having fun doing so.

The wild card in this game is the Jets offense. Ā The Jets have the number 1 ranked rushing offense in the league. Indianapolis is ranked 24th in rushing defense, certainly nothing to write home about. Ā The Jets will look to control the clock and pound the football down Indy's throat. The run game will open up some passing opportunities for Sanchez. Ā All Sanchez has to do is make one or two big pass plays, and the game is in his hands. Ā As a rookie, however, it is safe to assume that Sanchez will throw at least one interception. Ā Not to worry though, the Jets D is good enough to hold the Indy offense to field goals is short field situations.

To summarize- Colts vs. Jets. OneĀ dimensionalĀ offense vs. #1 pass defense. Ā Average defense vs. #1 rushing offense. Ā Silence vs. Swag. Ā This is the perfectĀ matchupĀ for Rex Ryan's style of football. Ā If the Jets play their game and Sanchez keep the ball safe, the Jets will win this football game. J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets
