NFL Week 17: Fearless Forecast

Wesley KaminskyDec 31, 2009

Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo Bills—17-13. Considering the Colts took out their starters last week and lost, this week they have nothing to play for. The Bills are just looking to see if Brian Brohm can play. Last week wasn't too promising. Nevertheless, the Colts suffer their second straight loss.

New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers—24-10. Matt Moore has made a very worthy case to be the starter in 2010 and looks to finish the season on a good note. The Saints have been struggling the past two weeks and Mark Brunell will get the start as Drew Brees will rest. The Panthers win.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈

Jacksonville Jaguars at Cleveland Browns—27-24. The Jaguars need a miracle to make the playoffs, but it starts with a win in Cleveland. Unfortunately, the Browns have discovered an offense and have won three straight. They continue it and end the season on a good note while ending the Jags playoff hopes.
New England Patriots at Houston Texans—24-20. If the Texans want to make the playoffs, they need some help. The Patriots come into this one playing better football, and Tom Brady looks close to 100 per cent. He's back in sync with Randy Moss. On the other hand, Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson are on fire. The Texans win and hope for the playoffs.
New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings—27-14. Two weeks ago the Vikings were 11-2 and a sure bet to get at least the 2nd seed. Two weeks later the Vikings are 11-4, and if they want a first round bye they need some help. The Giants didn't show up a week ago against the Panthers and it cost them their playoff chances. The Vikings win.
San Francisco 49ers at St. Louis Rams—24-13. For the 49ers, if they win this game they get to 8-8 on the season, and with a loss they fall to a second consecutive 7-9 season. Alex Smith is playing for his job as QB of this team next season and started off last week on a good note. The Rams are struggling bad and continue to as they end 1-15.
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers—27-10. With a win, the Falcons can have consecutive winning seasons for the first time in franchise history. The Bucs, on the other hand, have won two straight and are coming off their best win of the season in New Orleans. The Falcons continue to roll as they finish 9-7.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Miami Dolphins—23-17. Had the Steelers beaten either the Browns, Raiders, or Chiefs they wouldn't be in the position needing help to get into the playoffs. The Dolphins still have a fighting chance to make it as well, but the Steelers win it on the road and hope for teams to lose.
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions—30-13. Jay Cutler had his statement game as a Bear a week ago, and it took long enough. The Lions are having another brutal season, and Daunte Culpepper is starting because of Matt Stafford's injury. The Bears end the season on a high note.
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys—24-20. Well, here we are again. A year ago these two teams met and the winner was in the playoffs, with the loser on the outside looking in. This season, the stakes are different as both teams are in it no matter what. The Eagles win in Big D and secure a first-round bye.
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos —20-10. After their promising 6-0 start, the Broncos have lost seven of nine games and are fighting for a wild card spot. The Broncos need this one and win it against the lowly Chiefs.
Baltimore Ravens at Oakland Raiders—27-7. Even with their loss last week, it's simple for the Ravens: a win and they're in. The Raiders are no easy task, though, as they have upset the Eagles, Bengals and Steelers and would like nothing more than to beat the Ravens. Baltimore will be ready, though, and sneak into the playoffs.
Tennessee Titans at Seattle Seahawks—31-10. The disaster season is almost over for the Seahawks, while the Titans are looking to finish 8-8 after starting out 0-6. Chris Johnson doesn't get 234 yards, but he tears up the Seattle defense.
Washington Redskins at San Diego Chargers —17-6. The Chargers aren't playing for anything, but something tells me they want to go into the playoffs staying white hot. The Redskins can't wait for this season to end, and this will be Jim Zorn's last game as a Redskins head coach. The Chargers continue to roll and are the most dangerous team in the playoffs.
Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals—24-17. This will be an exciting game if both teams decide to play their starters. It could also be a possible playoff preview. Aaron Rodgers has had a tremendous season and continues it here. The Packers end the Cardinals chances for a first-round bye.
Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets—23-13. Chad Ochocinco is doing a lot of talking on Darrell Revis, and the Bengals would love to end the Jets season. For the Jets, if they win, they're in. They won last week against the backup Colts and won't do it again this week. The Bengals spoil Rex Ryan's playoff hopes.

Top QB: Jay Cutler—24-31, 377 yards, 3 TDs
Top RB: Chris Johnson—24 carries, 189 yards, 2 TDs
Top WR: Roddy White—10 catches, 181 yards, TD
Top Kicker: Robbie Gould
Top Defense: Denver Broncos
