  5. Raiders vs. Chiefs: Tale of the Tape on Defense

If you’ve followed the Oakland Raiders' exhilarating 10-2 run this season, analysts have labeled their defense as a liability. However, they fail to discuss the Raiders defense as a reliable closer in tight contests. Defensive lineman Khalil Mack ended two games on a strip-sack. Overall, the defense has forced 21 takeaways, which ranks No. 7 in the league.

Similar to the Raiders, the Chiefs force turnovers at a high rate. They're the best in the league with 25. However, Kansas City’s defense leaked over the past three games, allowing 110-plus rushing yards and 410-plus total yards in each contest. The Raiders haven't allowed 400 total yards since their loss to the Chiefs. They’ve also forced multiple turnovers in the last four games. Don’t buy into the narrative painting the Raiders defense as poor on Thursday night. Pay close attention to the turnover tally for both squads.

  31. Raiders’ Strengths Overcome Glaring Weakness

Offensively, the Buffalo Bills did what’s required to beat the Oakland Raiders for about two-and-half quarters. As a team, Buffalo ran the ball for 212 yards, which is a season-worst for the Raiders defense. Then, Oakland’s offense swept away a 15-point lead, that took 36 minutes to build, within 20 minutes. The Silver and Black have an offense capable of erasing deficits like a No. 2 pencil on a Scantron sheet on test day—and they passed with flying colors on Sunday after a few mistakes.

It’s no longer feasible to beat the Raiders attacking a singular defensive weakness. Opposing teams must also deal with their firepower and situationally good defense down the stretch. Furthermore, analysts understate the youth’s composure. Quarterback Derek Carr, edge-rusher Khalil Mack and wideout Amari Cooper are all 25 years or younger but close out high-pressure games with the poise of five-to-seven year veteran players.
