Eagles Reportedly Interested in Reacquiring Jackson
Wednesday, Dec. 7
The Philadelphia Eagles are "likely to pursue a reunion" with Jackson when he becomes a free agent this offseason, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reported on Dec. 4.
Schefter added, "The Eagles would benefit from the addition of a speedy deep threat, and Jackson and Eagles coach Doug Pederson are big admirers of each other, sources said."
ESPN.com's Tim McManus reported on Wednesday that a source close to Jackson believes Jackson would be "intrigued" by returning to the Eagles.
Indeed, Philadelphia's most glaring weakness this season has been the play of the team's wide receivers, leaving rookie quarterback Carson Wentz with an absence of playmakers in the passing game. While Jordan Matthews has played well when he's been healthy, Nelson Agholor has been a disappointment in his second season, and Dorial Green-Beckham has yet to play up to his potential.
Jackson, 30, would certainly represent an upgrade.
The speedy wideout spent his first six seasons with the Eagles, accumulating 356 receptions for 6,117 yards and 32 touchdowns before being released by former head coach Chip Kelly. He also played in three Pro Bowls during his tenure in Philadelphia.
He hasn't had quite the same impact with Washington, however, registering 125 catches for 2,341 yards and 13 touchdowns in two-and-a-half seasons. And with the emergence of Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed as Kirk Cousins' favorite targets—and fellow wideout Pierre Garcon also set to hit free agency and in need of a new contract—Washington may deem Jackson expendable this offseason.
