WWE WrestleMania 28: Full Preview and Predictions Special Edition
This is it, folks! The year-long wait is finally over. This Sunday, WWE will present their annual WrestleMania event live from Miami, Fla.
Tons of excellent matches are made, and moments are just waiting to be created. While many will dive into "fantasy booking," I like to stick with logic and sense.
With that being said, let's get to the show!
Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny
1 of 10I suspect this match will be somewhere in the second hour.
As for a winner, it doesn't really matter. Honestly, I think Teddy Long and Mr. Excitement will stay on television each week. Thus, the outcome here won't mean much of anything the next night.
I compare this to the ECW Originals vs. ECW New Breed match in 2007. One side won at Mania, while the other side won a much better match days later.
The same will happen here. One side may win, but none of it will solve anything.
As for the actual match quality, I am positive we will see a nice match. It is a great spot for tons of talents to make the show, and everybody is more than capable out there.
Winner: Team Teddy
Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show
2 of 10The Intercontinental Championship will be on the line.
Does WWE give Big Show a WrestleMania moment?
Or will Cody Rhodes continue his title reign with a big victory?
Just like the previous match, I do not see anything being resolved here. The feud will continue, and I see a nice midcard match taking up about 10 minutes.
As for the winner, I can't see either man losing. Cody needs to look strong (like last year's Mania), but it would be nice for an aging veteran to get a title win on the grandest stage.
I am against any count out or disqualifications happening at a WrestleMania event, but this match may be the exception to that rule. Sadly, I must make a prediction...
Winner: Big Show
Randy Orton vs. Kane
3 of 10This is a barely even a feud. The two were not mentioned on last night's Smackdown. That is how far down the ladder this match is for Sunday.
Four weeks ago, I wrote why Kane and Randy Orton are a perfect fit for Mania.
A day before the actual match, I feel the same way. Both men were in a bad spot from the beginning, and I see only one ending here.
Speaking of, how's that "big return of the mask" working out? So funny...
Winner: Randy Orton
Divas Tag Team Match
4 of 10As I wrote about a few days ago, Maria Menounos has already earned my respect. Before the match even begins, she is getting cheers from me.
Her teaming up with Kelly Kelly to take on Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres is interesting. I do not expect it to be very long, but I have my hopes up for an entertaining segment.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see some "lumberjills" added here. As for a winner, I actually could see the heels gaining the advantage at the end. However, smart money is on the faces.
Winners: Maria and Kelly
Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus
5 of 10Last year, Daniel Bryan and Sheamus competed in a dark match at WrestleMania for the United States Championship. Many blasted the company for doing such a thing. I did not.
That is simply how seniority works. They needed to move a match, and those two were the only ones that had to go.
One year later, does anybody really care? To everybody saying they were "buried" last year, how about stop using that term from now on...
Daniel Bryan is now the World Champion, while Sheamus is the Royal Rumble winner. The two have not had much of a feud, but they are great inside the ring.
Many are expecting AJ to involve herself. Others are suspecting a lengthy match to steal the show. I, on the other hand, am realistic.
The way the story has been laid out, I only see one correct finish. Sheamus wins the World Title in less than a minute. Yes, we will see a new champion Sunday. Yes!
Winner: Sheamus
CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho
6 of 10CM Punk will be defending his WWE Championship against Chris Jericho.
Honestly, that sentence right there should produce many PPV buys. Sadly, that is likely not the case for a lot of fans.
Both men are set out to the be the "best in the world." While I could certainly argue that, these two will have the stage to prove themselves tomorrow night.
In front of 70,000 fans, Punk and Jericho are going to have a match for the ages. I have no doubt these two will do whatever it takes to have the best match of the evening.
Whether it is the opening match or not, it won't matter. Fans are getting one of the few matches that is almost guaranteed to be remembered forever. Sign me up!
As for the victor, you have to believe Punk is winning. Jericho (The Rock and others) simply do not care about "wins" or "losses" anymore. It just doesn't matter to them.
The only way I see Jericho getting the gold is to lose it right back to Punk in his hometown at Extreme Rules in a few weeks. It would make for a great atmosphere, and his new DVD would end perfectly.
Even with that, I will play it safe with the champion retaining.
Winner: CM Punk
Are You Buying the Show?
7 of 10WWE is expecting this event to be a major success.
The live audience will be there. The performers will be there. The amazing "once in a lifetime" setting will be there. Both in Miami and live on PPV, fans are going to be treated to a memorable night.
Will you?
As I wrote about in January, there is a reason why I support WWE and SOPA. Far too many seem perfectly happy with stealing content and "gloating" about it.
Well, no longer are just the piracy distributors being targeted. As I wrote about here, new laws may be going after illegal stream customers as well.
I highly suggest watching WrestleMania through legal means. Not only is it the right thing to do, it is much more enjoyable on a television set, instead of a blurry (illegal) computer stream.
WWE will be looking for record breaking business. They will certainly be getting my money. I wish the company well this Sunday night!
Undertaker vs. Triple H
8 of 10Honestly, there isn't much to say.
Shawn Michaels will be the special guest referee, while Undertaker and Triple H destroy each other. With the Heck on a Deck steel structure hanging above them, it will be a sight to see.
I expect a 30-minute classic, and both men to top last year's effort. The winner is not in question, but I suspect many will still try and "fantasy book" otherwise.
Winner: Undertaker
WrestleMania Thoughts
9 of 10Before I get to the main event, I have to make a quick mention on my predictions.
I understand I have all the faces winning. I have been watching the wrestling business for over 20 years, so I know that is not going to happen.
WWE will have a few heels win, and that is fine. It is always nice to see some feuds continue for another month or two, before the good guy triumphs.
However, I use logic and sense. The way WWE has put this show together, every face winning seems likely. Thus, that is what I am going with this Sunday night.
John Cena vs. The Rock
10 of 10If that promo video doesn't give you goosebumps, you may need to think about why you even bother watching WWE. These are the types of matches we, as fans, live for.
It won't get any bigger than this, folks!
John Cena and The Rock know how huge this match is. The company knows how huge this is. Fellow wrestling know how huge this feud is.
At WrestleMania, we will all witness exactly why these two are future WWE Hall of Famers. Expect an epic setting, and an even better match!
When this match was announced last April, I said Cena would win.
Last November when they teamed up, I said Cena would win.
In February when Rock returned to Raw, I said Cena would win.
This Sunday night, Cena will win.
Winner: John Cena
