WWE News: Kane Possibly Returning with His Mask, Why?

Kane is on his way back to WWE. He is returning to the company, and I am very excited about it. He is a great talent.

He is a future WWE Hall of Famer, and his character is always fun on television.

However, I am a little baffled at the recent promos promoting his comeback. They seem to hint at him coming to cause chaos with a mask on.

For those who do not know, Kane wore a mask from 1997-2003. It was major aspect of his feuds with Undertaker, Big Show and others. In the summer of 2003, he was unmasked.

Since then, he has had an even better career than before. He can speak now. He can cut actual promos.

He can also make some extra money for promotional appearances, media tours, as well as much more options in merchandise.

Instead of being a "scary heel who can't talk or show his face," he was an actual character in WWE. Also of note, he has now spent more time without the mask than he did with the mask on.

Now, I have long said that removing his mask was the right move. I said that eight years ago. I stand by it today.

It was time for a change (just like a certain masked monster on Thursday nights).

The teases for a return to wearing the mask are cool to see. I will admit that. I would love to see one more run with the mask or even an altered mask.

My only question is "Why?"

What would the reason be?

We can't erase our memories. We have seen his face. We have heard him talk.

His back story has changed far too many times for it to even matter anymore how his face was "scarred for life."

Again, why return with the mask? Did Mark Henry destroy his face in his final appearance or something? I could have sworn he injured his ankle, not his face.

My only guess is that he is having his "farewell" with the mask for nostalgia. One last hurrah for old times sake! That is the only reason I see it bringing it back.

There really is no other reason. He is not going to magically be some dominant heel like over ten years ago. It is not going to happen like some expect.

That would be "living in the past," and I have no desire to see rehashed stories from the late 90's.

In my opinion, he may be retiring soon and wants to go out, just as he arrived. With his mask on.
