WWE Raw Rating Is In: How Did the "Future" WWE Superstars Do?
WWE Raw aired last night, and many fans enjoyed the show, It gave us all a look into the "future" and what was to come. The new year is almost here, and WWE has tons of great talents ready to take over.
As I wrote about earlier, I enjoyed the program. It did not feature any build for the Royal Rumble next month; that was expected. The show is in late January. Also, I loved the "happy" tone of the show with the holidays right around the corner.
However, we all know ratings are what matter here. You could have the greatest show on the planet, but it needs to deliver the numbers. Or else? It all means nothing.
Last week, WWE Raw did an OK number. It was the Slammy Awards edition, and it was very disappointing. Good, but not great! The show did a 3.0 rating for the normal two hours and a 2.8, including the full three hours.
Last night, WWE Raw had 4,428,000 million viewers in the first hour.
In the second hour, they had 4,169,000 million viewers
The official rating was a 2.9.
My opinion on this?
Ouch!
As I have covered in the past, Zack Ryder has not had a lot of success with ratings when being a top name on Raw. Everybody online may love him, but numbers do not lie. Thankfully, he seems to becoming a much more "serious" performer now. Great!
Yet again, Raw loses viewers throughout the show. That is not good, and there can be no positive spin there. WWE needs to fix that trend soon.
As for the low number?
It is not surprising. John Cena appeared in the middle of the show, and a six-man tag team match is not exactly "must see." I am sure people will blame everyone and everything BUT Zack Ryder, CM Punk or Daniel Bryan, but they must be mentioned.
Punk has not moved numbers one bit since the summer (actually, ratings have gone down). I have covered Ryder in the past, and Bryan has been in the middle of the card for the Blue Brand for awhile.
Of course, they will be given time to shine. However, they are not off to a good start. Again, a large majority of Internet fans may love performers, but they are the small minority of the WWE Universe.
Always have been. Always will be.
