WWE Raw Rating Is In: Zack Ryder Falls Short Yet Again

Justin WatryDec 6, 2011

I thought WWE Raw was a good show last night. It featured some strange "booking" moves, but the show flew by, and I enjoyed it.

Sadly, it seems as if viewers around the country did not feel the same way.

Based on this report, WWE Raw ratings have once again decreased in viewers from hour one to hour two. That is a disturbing trend that needs to stop.

Hour one of Raw had 4,402,000 million viewers, while hour two had 4,302,000 million viewers.

The final number was a 3.0, down from last week's 3.2.

Ouch!

My thoughts on this?

Last week, I blamed the decrease in hour two on Punk vs. Del Rio in the main event being a dull match. No excitement was in that battle. Those two have been in the ring far too many times for me to care about them once again.

In my opinion, I am giving this week's blame to Zack Ryder. As I have touched on before, I just am not going to buy him as a main event performer right now.

Nobody can convince me he had a chance at beating John Cena clean last night. Some screwy finish? Yeah, anything is possible. Brooklyn Brawler once pinned Triple H in 2000.

I am talking about fans buying into Ryder as a legit talent in WWE at the top of the card. Thus, why watch the match at the top of the next hour? Then even more of him right after?

He is fine in the middle of the show for now. Keep him there! He is just like Daniel Bryan. No need to rush him into big matches in the main events. Patience please.

The other reason I feel Ryder gets some of the blame for last night's ratings decrease is the amount of time he was on. It was just too much. Nearly 30 minutes? Even his biggest fans can't want that much of him on a weekly basis.

From a backstage segment to an entrance to a match, to another segment to another match to a celebration to another run in to another pose down after taking out Dolph Ziggler?

Yeah, there was no reason for all of that in one night. Just way too much of one mid-carder. No wonder viewers left as the show went on! Sorry Zack Pack...

Woo, woo, woo! You know it!
