Humor: Al Davis Announces Signing of Cornbread For Five Years, $70 Million

In shocking news today, Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis announced the signing of Cornbread.

Cornbread, largely unknown, attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, from 2002 to 2006. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota.

Cornbread joined the Australian American Football Association (AAFA) and played for the Sydney Crocodiles, Canberra Dundees, and Melbourne Dingos.

"This starts a new era of Raiders football," Davis said. "Cornbread will become an elite quarterback for the Raiders, and may go down as the greatest of all time."

"...Of all time!" Davis added.

This is the first time that a player from the AAFA has gone on to the NFL. Davis believes that this will begin an influx of other AAFA players.

"I also liked Baguette, who was playing for Queensland. He was a damn good wideout." Davis said, when asked about other potential AAFA players.

Oddly, Cornbread ignored every question asked to him. It is unknown whether this is standard procedure in the AAFA.

The Cornbread signing is expected to end the potential trade talks between the Raiders and the Philadelphia Eagles, who were looking to trade their quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Raiders.

"Talks are still going on, but they've definitely slowed significantly," Eagles GM Howie Roseman said.

"I have a feeling that Philadelphia will be looking elsewhere very soon." Davis said on the subject.

Scott Pioli, GM of the Kansas City Chiefs, is the only other executive to ever scout the AAFA. He also looked into signing Cornbread for the Chiefs.

"I didn't realize that anyone else was looking into Cornbread," Pioli said. "We were trying to sign him for awhile, but he wouldn't return any of our calls. We offered him $47 million, but he wouldn't budge. I guess we'll just take Cibatta from Brisbane." Making a reference to the "elite" linebacker.

Cornbread's AAFA career numbers are 0 completions on 0 throws with 0 interceptions, 0 touchdowns, and 694 sacks. His career passer rating is 0.

In case you haven't already figured this out, this is an April Fools joke. Happy April Fools Day everyone!
