Braylon Edwards Catches a Touchdown Pass in New York Jets Loss
Even bad receivers have good days.
The much-maligned Braylon Edwards, one of the most inconsistent wide receivers in recent memory, actually did something productive on Sunday, he caught a touchdown pass in a 30-17 loss versus the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Edwards probably will blame the fans in Cleveland for his drop in the third quarter, but how can he be expected to catch a ball that went right through his hands. If the ball had been thrown a little less accurate, the Cleveland fans wouldn’t have distracted him.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It is worth noting on the touchdown pass that Edwards was being covered by a rookie, Jacob Lacey. The Jets simply took advantage of one of the few weaknesses on the Colts defense.
Whatever happens with Edwards in the offseason, he will make his one touchdown catch, and two total receptions for 100 yards, out to be the most important plays of the game. His meager 45 receptions for 680 yards and four touchdowns during the regular season will just be an afterthought.
With Edwards, it’s all about how important he is and how all his failures are the fault of Cleveland fans and the media.
Watching Jets' quarterback Mark Sanchez choose his targets, it’s noteworthy that Edwards was not even his second favorite target on Sunday. Edwards' inability to contribute in a meaningful fashion to the Jets' offense speaks volumes about how this former first round pick is regarded by his quarterback and the offensive coordinator.
Peyton Manning was Peyton Manning in the game, simply adding to his Hall of Fame resume by going 26 for 39 with 377 yards and three touchdowns.
Edwards is the poster child for what went wrong with the Jets in this game, a lot of hype, a little success, but inability to come through in the clutch and close it out.
When Browns' head coach Eric Mangini saw an opportunity to get rid of the receiver and get some value for him, he jumped on it, knowing it wouldn’t make a difference on his offense. In fact, the addition of Jason Trusnik to the Browns' roster ended up being a windfall for the Browns.
The Jets would be wise to follow the rout of the Cleveland Browns in the offseason and part company with Edwards...Sanchez certainly won’t notice.
