This season was a truly disappointing season for the Oakland Raiders considering the plethora of talented possessed by this team at every position outside of the offensive line. (Tom Cable, anyone?) The media in typical fashion took shot after shot after the organization starting with the top and working its way down. Not surprising, this is part of being in Raider Nation. However, the disturbing trend, a trend I have not seen before in my twenty plus years as a Raider fan is high treason.
The NFL hates Black Qbs. Ask Warren Moon, Vince Young, Michael Vick, etc. So it is not surprising that JaMarcus would receive such disproportionate criticism even at his young age, and volitile, unstable conditions thusfar as a pro. Let me remind you that there has NEVER been a dominant QB at the age of 24 or 25. The best QBs in the league are 40 plus!
If you thought for one second that JaMarcus would come in throwing Brady numbers on the way to the superbowl under the sorriest bunch of coaches to ever pick up a clipboard, then you life has no meaning.
Im not writing to apologize for JaMarcus' obvious lack of pocket presence or awareness. That speaks for itself. I am here, however, to condemn those who impose and perpetuate racist, baseless conjecture about how JaMarcus is "lazy" and "fat". Dude is 6'6", are you kidding me? What does him being skinny have to do with his arm and decision making? You might as well say that he dances softshoe and shucks cotton for whitey on the weekends in my book. No matter how you slice it, its racist to say that he is too dumb to learn the playbook when he is not even calling those bullsh*t plays.
JaMarcus is a pocket passer, like Tom Brady. When was the last time you ever saw Brady scrambling for his life like punk ass Gradkowski? He does't have to. He has the luxury of the best offensive line in the game, and "friendly" referees. Not to mention the best receiver(who was mysteriously traded for a fourth round pick the night before we draft JaMarcus) Conspiracy? Naww, not the NFL, who's intergrity has NEVER come into question. (Tuck Rule, anyone?)
My point is, yes you as a supposed Raider "fan" have the right to be critical of the Raiders anytime you'd like. But the problem is DON'T TEAR DOWN YOUR OWN in mixed public. You can sh*t on Jamarcus all you want behind closed doors, but don't give the haters any more ammunition. Jamarcus wears Silver and Black. He's on our side. You think he wants to struggle with receivers who can't catch, an o-line who can't block and a coach who can't coach? He has never experienced failure in his life up to this point, so booing him in public is only ammunition for the media to continue to destroy our team. It does't really matter who the QB is. The league hates Al Davis and the city of Oakland.
Gradkowski is your man. I thinks he sucks a$$, but I still want him to succeed. Check yourselves Raider Nation. Divided we have fallen.
