Raiders Interviewing Ravens' Hue Jackson
Ā According to ESPN the Raiders were given permission to interview Baltimore Ravens quarterback coach Hue Jackson.Ā He has been with the Ravens for two seasons and in those two seasons the Ravens rookie quarterback Joe Flacco led the team to the playoffs in his first two seasons in the NFL.Ā
Ā Ā Jackson has been in coaching for 23 years, but only 9 have been in the NFL.Ā In 2007 he was the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons during the meltdown season where Michael Vick was arrested and Bobby Petrino quit the team before the season ended.Ā Will that give him some crisis experience to help him if he comes to Oakland?Ā He was with the Bengals for several years before that and worked with WRs Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (thank you spell check) as the pair of receivers combined for over 2,000 yards in 2005, so he can create productive receivers.Ā

Ā One question unanswered (at this point--January 19 at 8:17 pm PT) is what Jackson is interviewing for.Ā
Ā Is Tom Cable fired and Jackson satisfies the "Rooney Rule" or is he a serious contender?Ā
Ā Is he interviewing for offensive coordinator?Ā That would be a promotion from QB coach.Ā
Ā Is Paul Hackett about to be sent packing and Jackson is just a transfer?Ā That is doubtful because who in their right mind would leave a position with a team coming off back-to-back playoff appearances to go to a team that has lost 11+games in 7 straight years and not get a promotion out of the deal?Ā
Ā More news hopefully will come in the next few days but with the Raiders being as silent as they have been about Tom Cable so far, will we learn anything about this interview?
