Who'da Thunk It?: Jets Win a Stunner, Will Do Same Next Week
In a previous article, I wrote a kind-hearted, heart-felt letter to the oddsmakers in Las Vegas asking them why they were betting against the New York Jets. This week, I'm asking them again to not make the same mistake.
This invitation, however, is extended to everyone who thought the Jets were down and out before the game even started. This one's for the people who predicted a blowout before Mark Sanchez even set foot in San Diego.
Not only do I invite you to reconsider betting against the Jets, I also ask you to question your motives.

Why do you still think the Jets are that bad?
Is it because of the rookie, Mark Sanchez, who has only a whopping 17 games under his belt under center? Is it because the Jets' lowly record of 9-7, just barely making the Wild Card, debatably because the Colts and Bengals decided to rest their starters in an attempt to fuel up for the postseason?
I don't understand.
What we're seeing is a return to "ground n' pound" football. Top-notch defense, combined with smashmouth running has been the key to the Jets' (unpredicted) success the past two weeks.
What we've witnessed, however, was not just a fluke. This has been the most consistent team in the NFL on defense this year, with the offense gaining experience and momentum with every play. I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Don't count the Jets out.
Not only do IĀ think that the New York Jets will win next week, I also think Peyton Manning will play one of his worst games of the season.
Yes, I said it. Peyton Manning will lose .
I've seen articles attributing all of the Colts' success to Peyton and I disagree. The Colts are a great team. They have a great defense. They have a great passing game. They have Peyton Manning.
But what they don't have is momentum.
You saw them play the Ravens. Peyton was Peyton. The Colts were the Colts.
That's all fine and dandy until you realize that the Colts being the Colts is not what it's going to take to beat the Jets, because right now the Jets are not the usual Jets.
They're something bigger, something better. To the Jets, they are the top team in football āand that's what it's going to take to win next week.
