NY Jets @ San Diego Chargers

The Jets take on the Bolts in the NFL Playoffs

Just before the post season started Rex Ryan announced that his Jets team should be favored to win the Superbowl. To back up that statement the Jets are going to have to win at San Diego.

The Jets won the first game of the journey by taking down the Bengals in Cincinnati. They won with a good balance of rushing the ball and playing some hard hitting defense. Mark Sanchez performed very well as a rookie quarterback in his first game and if they can duplicate that effort they will move on to the next round of the playoffs.

The Chargers were arguably the best team in the NFL down the stretch as they won eleven games in a row as they walked away with the AFC West and the #2 seed. This Chargers team is seeing the window close on their chance at a title and knows that they will have to put together a well rounded effort if they want to beat the New York Jets.

This line opened up as high as nine in some places and was quickly bet down to 7.5 as Jets backers started crawling out of the woodwork. The Chargers are in a great spot here because they are at home and they are rested. For as good as the Jets defense looked they did give up 169 yards rushing to Cedric Benson and that means the Chargers will be able to run the ball. This will open up passing lanes for Phillip Rivers and even though Darrelle Revis is the best cornerback in the league he can’t cover everyone on the Chargers team. San Diego has grabbed the green at a 6-2-1 clip in its last nine games and it is 21-7 as home favorites of 3 ½ to 10 points. The Chargers have also passed four of their last five playoff tests ATS. The Jets are 3-10 ATS off back to back wins by 10 or more and should flounder on the west coast. The Bolts are 19-8 ATS off an over and 17-5 ATS off back to back straight up wins. The Chargers will dominate the Jets from start to finish and this will be the most lopsided game of the week.
