Daniel Bryan on Miz TV: Latest Rumors, Preview for WWE SmackDown April 24

Ryan DilbertApr 24, 2018

WWE SmackDown will leap right into the Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz rivalry that is now possible thanks to the Superstar Shake-up.

Last week's roster shifts saw The A-Lister head to the blue brand; Bryan, a man he long riled up, will be waiting for him there.

The Miz has mercilessly antagonized the former SmackDown general manager in the past. Now the two men are on the same show once more, and Bryan is an active in-ring competitor once again. Electric tension is on the way.

WWE will take advantage by putting the pair within striking distance of each other in a Miz TV segment.

Louisville, Kentucky, will host that moment and all the fireworks it will bring, along with Asuka's first SmackDown match, the next chapter of a tag team rivalry and a contract signing.

The show will look to both hype Friday's Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia and continue to build toward the May 6 Backlash pay-per-view.

News updates, SmackDown preview on WWE.com and storyline projections help us look ahead at Tuesday's show before it airs at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network.

News, Rumors

Sanity is headed to SmackDown but not as a complete group. WWE announced during last week's Superstar Shake-up the NXT faction was headed to the blue brand.

From the promotional graphics shown on TV, though, Nikki Cross doesn't appear to be a part of that arrival. Apparently, her work isn't done with NXT.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Chris Featherstone of Wrestling Inc), WWE wanted to keep Cross at NXT for the sake of that brand's women's division.

Former Raw tag team champs The Bar also moved to SmackDown during the shake-up. The upcoming house show lineup may offer a glimpse into who Sheamus and Cesaro will be feuding with after their battle with Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy from Raw.

Dave Meltzer noted on Figure Four Online: "Sheamus & Cesaro vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson will be on some European dates for the SmackDown crew next month."

As for recent NXT transplants Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, a social media spat may be a hint of things to come. The IIconics have taken some recent shots at The Bella Twins on Twitter:

These kinds of interactions often don't lead anywhere, but we've seen a number of feuds begin this way.

SmackDown Streaks

The Bludgeon Brothers' dominance continues.

Harper knocked off Jey Uso last week, pushing his streak to 15 matches without a loss, per CageMatch.net. The duo is undefeated in 2018.

The current SmackDown tag titleholders are the clear apex predators of the division. After the Superstar Shake-up, though, there's a lot more competition headed their way.

Rusev hasn't been quite as successful in the win-loss department.

The powerhouse teamed with Aiden English against Bryan and AJ Styles last Tuesday, but the duo came up short. Rusev has now suffered four losses in a row and is 2-8 in his last 10 bouts, per CageMatch.net

He's not exactly getting buried, though. The Lion of Bulgaria has been working with some impressive names from Styles to Shinsuke Nakamura. And he'll face Undertaker at Friday's Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

Preview

The increasingly intense rivalry between The Usos and The Bludgeon Brothers will roll on in Louisville.

On the most recent SmackDown, Harper and Rowan blasted their foes after the bell rang. Naomi came out, though, in an effort to save her husband, Jimmy Uso.

This time out, Jimmy will face Rowan in singles competition and there's a good chance of things getting ugly.

Charlotte Flair and Carmella will make their SmackDown Women's Championship match official. The two rivals are set to collide for the crown at Backlash. Champion and challenger will meet on Tuesday in a contract-signing segment.

History says this won't remain civil. There's usually a broken table and someone left writhing in pain by the end of these things.

In addition, Flair's WrestleMania 34 opponent, Asuka, will make her SmackDown in-ring debut. The Empress of Tomorrow will team with Becky Lynch to take on The IIconics.

Becky Lynch and Asuka will face Peyton Royce and Billie Kay.

Royce and Kay have antagonized much of the SmackDown roster since their arrival from NXT. They were in the middle of a beatdown of Lynch and Flair when Asuka charged in to save the day last week. Now it's time to settle things in official action.

The night's biggest story, though, promises to be The Miz and Bryan's interaction.

During his last SmackDown stint, The A-Lister verbally clobbered The Yes! Man a number of times on Talking Smack

Bryan couldn't do anything about it at the time as he wasn't medically cleared. That's no longer the case so the former SmackDown general manager can give The Miz the comeuppance he deserves.

Their rivalry is poised to be a stellar one and will kick off in earnest on Tuesday night.

Big Cass, meanwhile, is sure to be lurking nearby. The new addition to SmackDown has made it clear he has issues with Bryan and attacked him last Tuesday after the main event.

The Miz will be Bryan's ultimate target, but the bearded warrior will have to tangle with Big Cass along the way, as well.
