Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kings Reportedly Agree on 3-Year, $36 Million Contract
Ailene Voisin of the Sacramento Bee reported Wednesday that the Sacramento Kings are expected to sign Serbian guard Bogdan Bogdanovic to a three-year, $36 million contract on July 6.
Voisin added that Bogdanovic is expected to appear at the Las Vegas Summer League for an introduction before playing for Serbia in the European Championships.
The 24-year-old Bogdanovic was selected with the 27th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns, but his rights were traded to the Kings last year in a deal that involved the movement of multiple 2016 NBA draft choices.
Bogdanovic won a silver medal as part of Team Serbia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and he has played for Turkish club Fenerbahce since 2014.
In 22 EuroLeague games last season, Bogdanovic averaged 14.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest.
He also shot 43 percent from three-point range, and will add another shooting threat to a Kings team that already boasts Buddy Hield.
Sacramento is in the midst of a rebuild, so while it may not win many games in 2017-18, Bogdanovic will have plenty of opportunities to play and grow at the NBA level.
