Kirk Cousins Says He's Not Expecting Redskins to Trade Him
Quarterback Kirk Cousins expects to be a member of the Washington Redskins when they begin the 2017 season.
"I haven't heard anything [about a trade]. I'm not expecting anything to happen," Cousins said Tuesday on NFL Live (via ESPN.com's John Keim). "And I'm looking forward to getting back to work with my teammates."
In March, Cousins signed a one-year franchise-player tender with Washington that will net him almost $24 million guaranteed next season.

Speaking with ESPN's Adam Schefter last month, the 28-year-old denied the rumors he demanded a trade from Washington. Team president Bruce Allen took a similar stance.
"I can't keep up with the rumors," Allen said, per CSN Mid-Atlantic's JP Finlay. "Kirk and I have talked almost a dozen times this offseason, and we get to laugh when we hear these different rumors. We haven't talked to anyone."
Cousins and Washington have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term extension. In late March, the Washington Post's Mike Jones reported talks between the two sides haven't progressed far:
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio noted using the franchise tag on Cousins again in 2018 would cost Washington a little over $34 million—a 44 percent raise over his 2017 salary. A transition tag, on the other hand, would only result in a 20 percent increase.
