Tom Brady Told Robert Kraft He'd Like to Play 6-7 More NFL Seasons

Joseph ZuckerMar 27, 2017

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady doesn't plan on retiring anytime soon, according to team owner Robert Kraft.

"As recently as two or three days ago, he assured me that he'd be willing to play another six or seven years," Kraft said Monday, per The MMQB's Albert Breer.

CSNNE.com's Phil Perry shared Kraft's full comments on Brady:

In February, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Patriots think Brady can play for three to five more years.

The 39-year-old is showing few signs of slowing down as well. In addition to helping the Patriots win their fifth Super Bowl, he threw for 3,554 yards and 28 touchdowns in 12 regular-season games. His 28-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio was the best in NFL history.

Kraft's comments and Rapoport's report cast further doubt on Jimmy Garoppolo's long-term future in New England.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported March 1 the Patriots may hold on to Garoppolo, but ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi spoke to a source who speculated the Cleveland Browns may attempt to restart trade discussions at the league meetings this week.

Garoppolo has already backed Brady up for three years, and there's arguably little reason to keep him on the roster if Brady intends to play for the foreseeable future.
