Daniel Norris, Tigers Pitcher, Announces He Is Cancer Free After Thyroid Surgery
Detroit Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris announced he is cancer free after undergoing surgery to remove a malignant growth on his thyroid:
Norris previously announced he had cancer on Oct. 19:
The Tigers acquired Norris, 22, in the trade this summer that sent David Price to the Toronto Blue Jays. He went 3-2 with a 3.75 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in 60 total innings pitched between the two clubs this season.

According to Katie Strang of ESPN.com, Detroit general manager Al Avila confirmed the "team was aware" of the growth before it traded for Norris and it "expects him to make [a] full recovery."
Norris came on strong for the Tigers down the stretch, and Strang named him the team's player to watch in 2016.
She wrote: "The 22-year-old lefty has shown major league stuff, as well as a stellar work ethic and workhorse mentality that quickly endeared him to his teammates and staff. Norris is already itching for next season and he figures to be the front-runner among the club’s own pitching prospects to compete for a spot in the rotation."
He's also proved to be fairly unorthodox among his peers, as a piece by ESPN The Magazine's Eli Saslow in March outlined how Norris lived out of a van during spring training with the Blue Jays.
