Great Beer Moments in Sports, Part 2

Nick DimengoApr 30, 2015

You've had a long day at work, your neighbor's dog is barking nonstop, and all you want to do is relax in front of the TV to watch your favorite team play.

There's just one thing you need to complete full relaxation mode: a cold beer.

Nothing goes with sports more than a six-pack, and because there have been so many solid moments of the foamy stuff during games—both good and bad—I'm giving you the second installment of the great beer moments in sports.

You can check first smooth-tasting moments here to see which ones make you feel least woozy.

Alli Alberts Is in Full Beer Mode

1 of 13

You know who would be proud of this Lingerie Football League girl? Stone Cold Steve Austin.

In one of the most epic celebrations a sports fan will ever see, the Chicago Bliss’ free safety, Alli Alberts, didn't just jump up and down or blast a wide grin after winning game MVP against the Omaha Heart; she cracked open everyone's favorite alcoholic beverage and chugged the hell out of it.

It's quite the boss move to chug a beer.

Jimmy Fallon Calms His Nerves

2 of 13

One of TV's funniest and most talented people, The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon always seems to know what to do to entertain a crowd.

A common staple at New York Yankees games and sitting in his usual seats behind home plate, Fallon had a near-death experience earlier this season during the Yankees-Toronto Blue Jays game when a foul ball came directly at his face, luckily falling to the ground after hitting the net.

Taking a bow and playing to the fans around him, Fallon helped ease his mind by doing one simple thing: chugging his beer.

When he's not hamming it up with celebs and athletes on The Tonight Show, Fallon's still being cool as hell, as he proved here by turning his beer upside-down.

President Obama Takes Washington

3 of 13

After about a year on the job during his first term as the President of the United States, Barack Obama showed that he wasn't all stuffy politics all the time.

That's because Obama showed up at a Washington Wizards game to sit courtside and enjoy one of man's greatest creations—a cold beer—yucking it up with nearby fans and acting as if he wasn't the most powerful man in the world.

It was a pretty cool scene—even if it did cause mixed reactions from people—and showed that just because a guy has power doesn't mean he isn't just a regular dude.

Jon Montgomery Washes Down His Gold with Some Golden Suds

4 of 13

Although this isn't the actual video of Canadian Winter Olympian Jon Montgomery chugging a pitcher of beer following a gold medal in his home country in 2010's Olympics—that would be here—I'm pretty sure that you get the gist.

After winning the gold medal in the men's skeleton event at Vancouver, Montgomery didn't want to just march towards the podium without taking a monster swig of some free beer, as a fan handed him a pitcher and, well, he turned it upwards to enjoy it.

It's no wonder he said it was the sweetest beer he had ever tasted.

Right Beer, Right Time

5 of 13

Talk about having a beer at the right time, huh?

While sitting alongside the foul lines at a baseball game, one needs to always be aware about baseballs zipping by them, hoping that he or she will be able to either make an unbelievable snag or dive out of the way to avoid injury.

In this lady's case, she couldn't react quick enough, but, thankfully, her trusty beer can saved the day—and her face—when it was the roadblock between the liner during a Washington Nationals game a few years back.

Fans might complain about high beer prices at games, but I would rather drop $12 on a beer and leave unscathed than to pay thousands for a facial reconstruction after getting knocked out by a baseball.

Luckily, beer saved the day here.

They May Have Had One Too Many

6 of 13

I don't know about you, but one thing that I can't stand is the feeling of something cold and, when dry, sticky being poured over me.

Sure, when someone accidentally knocks a beer over and it lands on me, I can handle that. But if someone were to ever just dump a brew over my head like these two baseball fans did to each other, I might be in a bit of a sour mood.

While the two fans did have some fun with each other since one was a San Francisco Giants fan and the other was an L.A. Dodgers supporter, smelling like a brewery and watching the rest of the game soaking wet would be miserable.

Then again, they happen to have one of the most memorable Kiss Cam reactions in recent years, so they've got that going for them.

Mason Plumlee Wrecks Sideline Waitress

7 of 13

When Brooklyn Nets forward Mason Plumlee ran into a Washington Wizards server earlier this season, it was like that moment right before a minor fender bender where one thinks that he or she can save the day by slamming the breaks just enough at the last moment.

Of course, it doesn't work, as you merely tap the back of the car in front of you to cause a little headache.

In Plumlee's case, though, this wasn't just two compact cars bumping one another, but a Hummer hitting a Fiat, with the baller unable to prevent himself from causing a major mess by having the waitress drop snacks and beer all over the sideline.

Note: Darko Milicic Was Drafted Before Three Future Hall of Famers

8 of 13

You guys, Darko Milicic isn't doing what many believed he would be at his current age of 29 years old.

Selected No. 2 overall in one of the most stacked drafts in NBA history ahead of Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, among other solid players, Darko never developed into much more than a below-average role player for various teams during his 10-year career.

Quitting basketball for kickboxing in the past year, Darko seems to be turning his attention towards chugging beer now—partly joking, but who knows?

While he wasn't impressive on the hardwood, Milicic does show some skills by chugging beer with no hands at all. I specifically like the power burp he gives around the 32-second mark to really emphasize the feat.

Again, this guy was drafted before Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade—just a friendly reminder.

Brooks Orpik Gets Drenched

9 of 13

It's a bird, it's a plane, noit's a flying plastic beer cup.

That was what Washington Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik found out last week during his team's opening-round playoff series against the New York Islanders when, out of nowhere, an eruption of beer came flying at Orpik's face, luckily hitting him in the shoulder to avoid a strange injury.

When watching it in slow motion, it's just hilarious, but what a waste of a beer.

San Francisco Giants Fan Makes the Best of the Situation

10 of 13

Fans are always ecstatic anytime a foul ball is within their reach, with a few doing anything they can to leave with a souvenir.

While a few fans have dived for balls or toppled over rows for one, sometimes, Lady Luck just happens to be on your side.

That was the case with this San Francisco Giants fan who, after a ball got tossed towards his section, found a deflected ball land right into his beer cup, splashing the brew all over him and his wife, who didn't seem too happy about getting drenched.

No matter, the guy did what anyone his his position would probably do: play to the crowd and turn that sucker up, chugging what deliciousness was left in the cup.

Nicely played, sir.

Stone Cold Steve Austin Gives a Beer Shower

11 of 13

For a long time, former WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin wreaked havoc on opponents and the executives of the wrestling federation.

Never one to take crap from anyone, Austin showed he was one with the people, often entering the ring with a few beers in hand and slamming them prior to each match, which, he later found out, wasn't exactly following the doctor's orders.

Still, in his heyday, Austin was associated with all beer, all the time.

And in 1999, he showed that in a major way, as he pulled up ringside with a Coors Light truck and sprayed down then-WWE champion, The Rock, along with executives Vince and Shane McMahon, giving them an explosion of beer that was a major bite from "The Rattlesnake."

The Kiss Cam Beer Guy

12 of 13

When someone says that they love beer, it's usually just a metaphor that's taken with a smirk, making you believe that they wouldn't actually choose the suds over anything else in real life, right?

For one sports fan, he showed that, in the most literal sense, he did give his heart to the foamy goodness, showing up on Kiss Cam during a game next to his significant other and leaning in to make out with the very brew in his hand.

Picking a cup of cheap beer over a lady is a low move, but, hopefully, he wasn't in the doghouse for too long—even if he'll forever be remembered as the "Kiss Cam Beer Guy."

Rob Gronkowski's Super Bowl Celebration

13 of 13

There is just so much right with this that it actually almost seems scripted.

Yet the person who New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski showed to be during the team's Super Bowl championship parade a few months ago was, in fact, the real Gronk.

Following a season in which he returned to his familiar self in 2014 by hauling in 82 passes for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdown grabs, Gronkowski had a lot to celebrate when his team won the first Super Bowl ring in the partyboy's career.

Wearing a Minions hat from the animated movie Despicable Me, the dude ended up with a beer, looked around at the crowd and chugged it to celebrate.

Never change, dude. Never.
