Sports Figures Acting Like Middle School Kids
Let's just face the truth—being a kid is awesome.
Whether you're a kid just getting out of college or an adult who's trying to avoid becoming a grown-up, it's a fact that nobody likes to act their age.
Sure, it's nice to get a paycheck and become more independent as we all grow older, but when a kid, everything seems to be perfect, with no responsibilities, bills or worries.
For that reason, a lot of us like to try and re-enact those glory days, sports figures included, with instances of some of our favorite players and coaches enjoying moments when their immature side gets the best of them, and they revert back to a teenager's mindset.
Jim Harbaugh's Temper Tantrum
1 of 12That feeling you get when you're mom tells you that you can't go out and play with the neighborhood kids? Yeah, current Michigan Wolverines football coach Jim Harbaugh experienced that during a game a couple years ago while with the San Francisco 49ers.
Seeing a head coach blow up and throw a tantrum is pretty common. For Harbaugh, in this case, though, it's about as close to what a kid would do when he gets in trouble, losing it and not knowing what else to do to defend his case.
Bad calls happen, Jim. So, too, do hilarious blowups by grown men, giving us fans hilarious videos like this one.
South Carolina Baseball Goes Bananas
2 of 12
I hate fruit, no joke, but I do know that bananas are often used for a variety of different reasons, showing its versatility as a snack.
The players on the South Carolina baseball team proved that the funny-looking fruit could be used for some fun, too, appearing on TV behind their head coach during an in-game interview last week holding nanners up to their ears as if they were phones.
As if college sports aren't great enough, these ballplayers go and do something like this to remind us that it's not who wins or loses—it's who has the most fun.
Pablo Larrazabal Lake Jump
3 of 12In all of my years as a sports fan, I've honestly never seen anything like this.
While bees, hornets and other insects that sting are avoided as much as they can be, sometimes there are instances where they just swarm a person, leaving him or her with little chance to avoid getting stung.
Fortunately, for Spanish golfer Pablo Larrazabal, he had a giant lake to help him out. He stopped trying to swat them away and did what any sensible person would do—jump into the water.
This might be more of a scene from a cartoon than something a middle school kid would do. But it's definitely not something a pro athlete should be doing, right?
Oh well, at least Larrazabal had a sense of humor about it and wasn't forced to pull out stingers all night long.
The Los Angeles Lakers After Ending a Losing Streak
4 of 12Their future Hall of Fame teammate, Kobe Bryant, might not have approved, but the Los Angeles Lakers couldn't hold back their enthusiasm following an overtime win against the Boston Celtics last month, ending a seven-game slide in the process.
Like kids often do, a group of players acted a fool for the cameras, taking part in a group interview for a little bit while point guard Jeremy Lin was asked a few questions.
Sure, it was embarrassing to see from a proud franchise like the Lakers, but hey, boys will be boys.
Prince Fielder Needs His Nachos
5 of 12You know how some people claim that eating before any physical activity is a bad decision? Turns out that MLB slugger Prince Fielder doesn't really believe in the idea, as he proved with this little stunt he pulled a couple of years ago while with the Detroit Tigers.
Kids love junk food, and Fielder showed no mercy on some fans' nachos when he got close to their seats, reaching over the railing and snagging a couple chips and cheese before heading back to his position at first base.
Fielder might not have gotten the ball, but he left with a little extra energy by way of a corn tortilla chip.
LeBron James Lets Loose
6 of 12Let's just go ahead and call a spade a spade—farts are funny, man.
As a 30-year-old, I'm sure my parents and sisters would be so proud to see me write that, but what else is there to do but laugh after someone rips one?
Well, in the case of Cleveland Cavs forward Anderson Varejao, giving an epic stinkface comes to mind.
That's what happened when teammate LeBron James crop-dusted the big man a few years ago, slyly keeping it together until after Andy took a whiff.
New York Yankees Players Recreate 'The Sandlot'
7 of 12Just released the other day, watching a few New York Yankees players re-enact a famous scene from the movie The Sandlot is pretty funny.
I mean, there aren't too many times where you can get millionaire athletes to step out of their comfort zone and (knowingly) put on a performance that is less than impressive as this one is.
Still, props to the fellas for putting aside their egos and finding their inner-teenager, giving fans a memorable video that shows they're more than just ballplayers.
Mark Sanchez Wipes a Booger on Mark Brunell
8 of 12Boogers are pretty gross.
Meant to be hidden in a tissue, when one gets out of the ol' nostrils, they can make anyone squirm for fear that it might end up on them somehow.
In the case of former NFL quarterback Mark Brunell, though, he didn't have much of a chance to get out of the way of one landing on him, as his teammate on the New York Jets, Mark Sanchez, figured Brunell's jacket was the proper place to wipe a boog.
Fortunately, for all of us, TV cameras caught it all, showing what life like a backup quarterback in the NFL is really like: a used Kleenex.
Pete Carroll Videobombs John Clayton
9 of 12Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll isn't only one hell of a football coach—minus a certain call in this year's Super Bowl—but he also happens to be one of the best personalities in sports too.
He proved that again yesterday when the 63-year-old Carroll saw ESPN reporter John Clayton doing his job in front of the camera and, instead of walking by peacefully, videobombed Clayton by looking as if he didn't know what was going on.
Like an accident you just can't stop looking at, Carroll pulling this off is tough to look away from—and he's beginning to build quite the reputation for pulling this stunt off.
Can You Hear Me Now?
10 of 12Over the years, there have been some serious pranks in the world of sports.
From baseball players bringing in live animals to their manager's office to players disguised and popping out to scare a passerby, us fans have been treated to some funny stuff.
But this prank involving former big leaguer Jeff Francoeur and his minor league teammates last year might just take the cake.
Like kids often do to make the other look like a fool, Francoeur's mates actually convinced him that pitcher Jorge Reyes was deaf, with the entire locker room carrying on the joke for at least a week.
Kids like to have fun, and this is one of the best examples of athletes doing just that.
DeAndre Jordan Wipes Booger on J.J. Redick
11 of 12One of the most improved big men in the NBA, Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan has shown to be quite the bad man while on the basketball court.
With insane dunks and a ridiculous field-goal percentage of 71 percent, Jordan pulverizes his opponents.
He proved he likes to get a little nasty on teammates too, as he videobombed a postgame interview of J.J. Redick's by disgustingly—and hilariously—wiping a booger on his back while walking away.
Like the aforementioned Sanchez did, Jordan made sure he had something for his snot when a tissue wasn't available.
Kentucky Men's Hoops Players and Videogames
12 of 12So what does it feel like to be chasing history, trying to become the first undefeated men's college basketball team since the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers?
Well, after watching this video of a few members of the University of Kentucky men's hoops team, it seems a lot like a sleepover one might have with their best friends, sitting around and playing video games.
With one of the most passionate fanbases in any sport, the team gave Big Blue Nation an inside look at what the journey looks like towards the national title—and this was one of the videos.
Seems like the players are loose and comfortable with the pressure, don't you think? Then again, most of these kids are still teenagers just a few years out of middle school, so it's understandable why they're acting as such.
