Rusev vs. Jack Swagger Results: Winner, Post-Match Reaction from WWE SummerSlam

In one of the most stunning victories of the night, Rusev was able to defeat Jack Swagger in a Flag match at the 2014 WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.

WrestlingInc.com had the results and what happened right after the match:

The feud between the Russian supporters of Rusev with his manager Lana and Swagger with his manager Zeb Colter has been one of the top secondary storylines booked in WWE over the last several months.

Rusev was coming off a submission victory over Big E at Money in the Bank when Colter and Swagger decided that they had enough of the Russian sympathizers’ complaining. The two sides engaged in a verbal war before it finally spawned into a match at Battleground.

Swagger looked like the stronger of the two wrestlers in that battle. Rusev used his leg strength to reverse a Patriot Lock on the outside, though, and he tossed his opponent into the steel steps, earning him the count-out victory.

While Rusev has still never been pinned or submitted, Swagger did earn a disqualification victory over the Bulgarian Brute. Despite all signs pointing to a victory for Swagger Sunday, WWE looks to be going all-in on Rusev.

Two straight PPV victories over Swagger likely means the end of the road for this feud. Rusev will need something bigger next, and the perfect answer would be an extended program with a returning star like Mark Henry or Christian.

Should Rusev and Jack Swagger have one more match?

Both Henry and Christian are veterans and wouldn’t mind putting over a talented big man like Rusev. Each is a fan favorite and would help further build animosity from the WWE Universe toward Rusev and Lana.

On the other hand, Swagger’s loss means he’s in trouble. As well as this storyline has gotten over with the fans, Swagger is not the ideal fit for this gimmick. Now would be the perfect time for Colter to kick his current client to the curb and join forces with an American star like Henry.

The Real Americans gimmick is working great, but Sunday’s loss means Swagger may be getting deported from the stable sooner rather than later.
