AJ Lee Wins Divas Championship Invitational at WrestleMania 30

Not even 15 opponents could stop AJ Lee from retaining the Divas championship at WrestleMania 30. 

Approaching a year-long title reign—she first won the belt at Payback in June of 2013—Lee forced Naomi to tap out via the Black Widow to win the Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational and once again walk away as a champion on Sunday. 

It was pretty much an impossible sell, as the Divas had the honor of following up quite possibly the most shocking moment in WrestleMania history, but there was some solid action. 

At one point, Nikki and Brie Bella had the ring cleared and nailed a pair of suicide dives onto the rest of the 14 ladies outside the ring. When they returned to the squared circle, however, the sisters turned on each other, with Nikki hitting her finisher. 

The pin was broken up, and AJ and Naomi ended up inside the ring together, where the champion put on her unique submission hold for the victory.

There are a few ways to look at the result. 

On the one hand, it's easy to see why AJ continues to retain. She is extremely talented inside the ring, great on the mic and one of the most popular ladies in the business. 

There aren't many Divas quite like her, and it makes sense to have her in the title picture. Moreover, with as good as she has been over the past year, perhaps the company just wanted her to have her WrestleMania moment. 

However, the Divas division is already stagnant as it is, and keeping AJ as the champion for such a prolonged period of time isn't exactly helping things. Naomi is also impressive inside the ring, and having AJ chase the title might inject some excitement inside the division. 

For now, though, none of that matters. AJ Lee walked away from WrestleMania as a champion, and she undoubtedly deserves that honor.
