Well, if you are still pining for some Evan Bourne news, here ya go.
As most fans know, the Royal Rumble tends to be used as a platform for returning stars and "blast from the past" WWE Legends.
However, a Rumble return does not appear likely for the high-flyer. As, late Sunday night, Bourne took to Twitter to update his followers on his injury status:
If you didn't know, the Royal Rumble is my personal favorite PPV/match! But no matter how hard I train, my foot will not be ring ready by RR— airbourne(@findevan) December 30, 2012
Sadly, the former member of "Air-Boom" has been out of commission on and off for about a year now. His issues started in November 2011, when he was slapped with a Wellness Policy suspension. Once he served his 30 days, he returned briefly and was hit with yet another Wellness suspension. Then, he made a brief comeback, only to find himself sidelined with a foot injury.
Since his last string of issues started, I began to wonder how long he had left on his WWE contract. Let's face it, if he doesn't come back soon, better than ever, he could easily find himself parting ways with the company.
Don't get me wrong, I don't wish for anyone to lose their job. However, when you have two strikes against you and aren't that big of a draw to begin with, it kind of doesn't make sense for the company to keep you on the roster. Especially when you consider the current state of the WWE.
The fact is, there really isn't much room for an oft-injured cruiser-weight. Overall, only time will truly tell what will be in store for Bourne. Ultimately, I couldn't imagine being out of action for so long and not being able to control my timeline for return.
In the end, I truly hope he heals up quickly and finds himself back in action before WrestleMania 29.
