Creature vs. Creature: Why Kurt Angle Is the Best WWE Superstar Ever
Alright, I'm sorry to Shane, Josh, Ray, Robin, Mina, Ross, Ron, TJ and everyone else in this HUGE Creature v. Creature here that I'm late. I hope you guys can still read, and see my case for why Kurt Angle is the best WWE Superstar ever.
When I first saw TJ Duncan doing this CvC on B/R, I wanted the ādark horse,ā as everyone calls itā¦
But, really, is Kurt Angle the dark horse here?? The American Hero has it all. You take the start of his career, and it wasnāt even looking towards pro wrestling, as an Olympic gold medalist.

Then, the guy signs on to WWE in 1999, and his career skyrocketed from there. Just look at the stats, guys...
- Three-time All-American, and two-time NCAA Collegiate Champ
- Olympic Gold Medalist
- Former Intercontinental, Hardcore, Tag Team, European Champion
- Eight-time World Champion (4 WWE, WCW, World Heavyweight, 2 TNA)
- Match of the Year in 2003 against Brock Lesnar (Iron Man)
- No. 1 in the PWI 500 in 2001
- Rookie of the Year (Arguably the best ever hereā¦)
- Three-time winner of Feud of the Year (2000, 2003, 2007 vs. Triple H, Brock Lesnar, and Samoa Joe, respectively).
Angle was getting World Title reigns one year into his career in WWE. No matter how much WWE can push you, one year into multiple World Title shots is magical. Not even Goldberg did that. At the same time, Angle could have been on the mid-card, in a grudge feud, or even going low as the European Champion. This shows that Angle is one of the most decorated champions of all time, and if his career keeps going at the pace it does, heāll eventually pass the coveted 10 Time mark in World Titles.
But do Titles alone give you a reason to brag? A reason to let yourself be the greatest of all time? I mean, we could all be like say, Triple H or Edge, and have eight reigns in less than four years, right? No, I do not impress you yet, do I?
It takes BOTH great mic skills and great in-ring prowess to be the BEST EVER. Angle is one of the greatest at bothā¦
Like I said before, Angle is the complete package. His amateur background gives him the best wrestling background in the world, making his moveset impeccable.
German Suplexes galore, more Suplexes, an innovated Olympic Slam, Moonsaults and tons of submission holds to top it off. Who thought you could take such a stupid-looking move like an Ankle Lock and make it one of the best finishers of all time???
His emotion can freeze a person at anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Ā
This is the second part of what makes him who he is. Although many times, what happens inside a match tends to fall under promo skills, Angle can carry just about anyone in a match.
After he became the fourth Grand Slam Champion in 2002, he started to carry almost every one of his opponents in their matches, except for Shawn Michaels in 2005 when everything there was almost evenā¦.
Arguably the biggest dream match of all time came from Angleā¦vs. āHBKā Shawn Michaels. Angle solidified his career with this matchup.
ANYONE who has a wrestling mind and doesnāt live in Montreal will still watch this match over ANYTHING that comes over todayās air.
But Angle couldnāt have lived just on wrestling skill; otherwise he would have turned into Shelton Benjamin, an un-pushed talented, silent superstar. Angle was also a great talent on the mic.
Angle could cut heel promos of course humorously (just watch any promo of his, guysā¦) and his face promos werenāt also that bad either.
He could make you cheer as loud as you wanted for your American Hero, or just want to punch him in the face for being that in-ring idiot that he was.
Angle was arrogant, extremely ignorant to everything except his Gold Medals, and wellā¦here's to a ham sandwich...
There really isnāt one man in the history of wrestling who had to do more just to get the fans, as loud as they can, to chant āYOU SUCKā during his entrance.
We at B/R would understand how The Great Khali (my fellow countryman, LOL) gets those chants, but Kurt??Ā
Many have had that chant, but Kurt kept the arrogance going everywhere during his unforgettable heel runs, making it possible. Although Edge may have started that chant, Kurt kept it going. A moment?? Try this....
If you disagree here, remember the first Draft night with the Rock?? He started the āYOU AREā¦AN A**HOLE!!!!ā chant over and over again, but that stuck on for only a couple weeks at best. Angleās chants?? A lifetime.
Angle is going to have a future from where he is. Many, including me, say after his TNA contract expires, heāll return to WWE. Heās also said he wants to venture into MMA, similar to Brock Lesnar.
Angle also isnāt the slump backstage either. He has a good rep, is relatively nice to other wrestlers and fans, and except for Danny Puder (THAT WAS PUDERās FAULT!!!!) Angle did his part.
If you need more evidence on Puder, Angle explains that and his Royal Rumble (2005) appearance here. This is a pretty rare shoot by Angle that happened to surface over YouTube sometime ago. I heard this in 2005 from my cousin's iPod, but I never saw it until today, so check it out...
In my opinion, Kurt Angleās wrestling passion, pure skill, and mic work makes him the best WWE Superstar of all time. Oh, itās sooo trueā¦
