After watching their crosstown rivals beat their own divisional rivals in the Super Bowl, the Jets need to make some moves this offseason. Obviously, the player that is going to generate the most buzz is Peyton Manning, as all indications point to a divorce between the Colts and the four-time MVP.

As tempting as this is for the Jets, the bottom line is, it is up to Peyton to decide where he wants to go. When you look at all of his options, there is just little sense for him to go to the Jets.

Cold Weather

This has probably been the most overlooked reason as to why it makes no sense for Peyton to pick the Jets. He has played in a dome for almost his entire career, why would he take to the windy Meadowlands at this point in his career?

His bad neck may hinder his arm strength, and the last thing he needs is to start battling the elements at 36 years old.

If I'm Peyton, moving to sunny Miami or San Francisco sounds much more enticing.

Won't Fit the Salary Cap

It has been reported that the Jets have about $7-8 million to spare under the cap.

There is no way Peyton's contract will allow him to fit. This is the last big payday of his life, and he is going to take full advantage of it.

Tannenbaum is going to have to work some serious cap magic to make this work, which means backloading contracts that will hurt the Jets in the future. Not to mention, if Woody Johnson was content with a roster that was this comfortably under the cap, why would he start spending now?

Before you say that they could just cut Sanchez's contract, why on earth would Sanchez go for that? He would never take less money to be a backup, and the Jets are not ready to cut him.

Sharing Market with Eli

After just winning the Super Bowl and the hearts of half of the New Yorkers in the process, why would Peyton try and rain on his brother's parade?

I guess it would make this easier from a logistical standpoint, but in what should be an offseason of praise of Eli in New York, Peyton moving to town would steal the show away from his brother's accomplishments.

I don't know Peyton personally, but I would assume he wants his brother to get all the attention and praise he can after living in his brother's shadow his whole career.

Not a System Fit with Tony Sparano

It is clear that the Jets want to get back to the "Ground and Pound" offense with the Sparano hire. By bringing in Peyton, it would create the same Chinese fire drill that the Jets went through with Brett Favre just four years ago.

Wherever Manning wants to go, he is going to want to bring his offense and terminology.

The clash of philosophies would set back the Jets' offensive development a year, and unless they can win a Super Bowl, it would all be a waste.

PR Issues with Sanchez

Since he was drafted back in 2009, the Jets have been touting Sanchez as their franchise quarterback. If they were to sign Peyton and put Sanchez's development on the back burner, what kind of message would that send?

Rex Ryan has stated repeatedly that he believes in Sanchez, and he will be his quarterback as long as Rex is there. Going back on his word would hurt his credibility.

After selling so many No. 6 jerseys after playoff runs, what are they supposed to tell the fans after they sign a future Hall of Famer to take his spot? The Jets don't want this to become an Alex Smith-like situation when the player becomes unmarketable to the fanbase.
