WWE/TNA (IWC Votes): What Is Your Favorite Wrestling Related Video Game? Results

David RutterMay 31, 2018

Welcome to today's results of "IWC Votes."

In the past, I have asked you, (the reader), to vote on various topics includingย favorite wrestler,ย Royal Rumble moments,ย top three finishing moves,ย entrance themeย and favorite championship (voting still active).

A few days ago I asked you all tell me what your favorite wrestling related video game was.

Video games have been a major part of pop culture for almost 30 years now, and the wrestling industry has made sure to capitalize on that by releasing video games on a yearly basis (sometimes every six months).

WWF/WWE, TNA, ECW and WCW have all released multiple games throughout the years.

With each new game usually brings updated graphics, new control systems, match types and updated rosters.

Just because the days of blowing dust out of a cartridge and inserting quarters into an arcade machine are gone doesn't mean that those games are inferior compared to today's editions, which include online play and arena customization.ย

Without further ado, here are the results.

First Placeย

WWF No Mercy (Nintendo 64) - 9 Votes

I will always remember playing this game as a kid. Heck, I still play it with friends from time to time. I can't even say it was the perfect game at the time because it's still a perfect game. The match selection,ย story mode, customization and characters wereย unrivaled.

Reader's Comments:

"This game was one hell of a game. It had a great Season mode where you have to make different decisions and at the end you end up with the title. You could actually lose sometimes in thoseย story linesย unlike you can in today's games." - Joey Mast

"WWF No Mercy is without a doubt the greatest wrestling game that ever was or ever will be." - Hank DeVeet

Second Place

SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain (PlayStationย 2) - 6 Votes

This game easily had one of the best rosters of all time (Rock, Austin, Lesnar, Jericho, Goldberg, Triple H, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels). It also had a very goodย story mode. If memory serves me correct, I believe this was the only game not to have actually commentary voice-overs.

Reader's Comments:

"The story mode was easily the best and most engaging and it's roster was brilliant. sure it wasn't perfect but it was the closest the series has come." - Shaun Ryder

Third Place

WWE 12 (PS3, Xbox 360 &ย Nintendoย Wii) - 5 Votes

I don't have much experience with this game (I've only played it once). However, during the time I did play it I could notice even the smallestย improvementsย in terms ofย game playย and this game also winsย hands downย in terms of graphics.

Reader's Comments:

"WWE 12 has the best graphics and for me that's the number one thing I care about, so I'm going with WWE 12." -ย Mack Ochenka

Honorable Mention:

SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 (3 Votes).

Well this wraps up this edition of "IWC Votes."

Were the results what you expected?

Are you happy orย disappointedย with them?

Don't forget to vote for yourย favorite championshipย if you haven't done so already!
