UFC on FOX Predictions: Ranking the 5 Hardest Hitting Heavyweights

G DNov 11, 2011

UFC on FOX 1 is just a few short hours away as the UFC will make its broadcasting television debut on the Fox Network.

The main event of the evening will be headlined around two of the heavyweight's hardest hitters in Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.

While Velasquez and dos Santos may be two of the hardest hitting heavyweights, they certainly aren't the only ones.

Despite the heavyweight division being frequently criticized and labeled as arguably the worst division in the UFC today, they are home to some of the hardest hitters not only in their own division, but the entire UFC.

So, the following slides display the five hardest hitters in the heavyweight division today.

Let's take a look.

5. Brock Lesnar

1 of 5

Despite being off for more than a year, Brock Lesnar will make his return to the Octagon on December 30th to take on highly dangerous striker Alistair Overeem.

And, despite being off for such a long length of time, Lesnar remains one of the hardest hitters in the heavyweight division.

While Lesnar can certainly throw his fair share of strikes in the stand-up, his most effective blows come from the ground as he's knocked out Randy Couture and Frank Mir.

4. Alistair Overeem

2 of 5

Despite having never stepped foot inside the UFC Octagon, Alistair Overeem is one of the hardest hitters in the UFC today.

In fact, Overeem has been considered by many to be one of the heaviest hitters in the world as he's knocked out opponents such as Brett Rogers, Todd Duffee and Kazuyuki Fujita.

Overeem will get the chance to prove just how hard he can hit when he squares off with Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 in December of 2011.

3. Cain Velasquez

3 of 5

Cain Velasquez is considered the most dangerous man on the planet for a reason.

The current UFC heavyweight champion has established himself as one of the hardest hitters in any division as he's knocked out eight of his nine UFC opponents.

Velasquez's most recognized knockout victories came over Brock Lesnar, Antonio Nogueira and Ben Rothwell.

2. Junior Dos Santos

4 of 5

Junior dos Santos may very well be the hardest hitting heavyweight in the UFC today as he's displayed his knockout power on numerous occasions over the course of his mixed martial arts career.

In fact, of the seven times dos Santos has entered the Octagon, he's knocked his opponent out four times.

Not only is dos Santos' striking some of the best in the heavyweight division, but the entire UFC as he's scored KO victories over Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve and Gabriel Gonzaga.

1. Shane Carwin

5 of 5

There are many UFC fans who feel that Shane Carwin is, in fact, the hardest hitting heavyweight in the UFC today.

And they might be right.

Despite losing his last two fights, Carwin is one of the most vicious strikers in all of mixed martial arts as he knocked out the first four UFC opponents he faced.

These opponents consisted of Frank Mir, Gabriel Gonzaga, Christian Wellisch and Neil Wain.
