IMPACT: 6 Reasons Why the British Invasion Should Be Tag Team Champions Again
The British Invasion is former Tag Team Champions and have had one hell of a ride in TNA/IMPACT thus far.
One half of the team, Magnus, was the first to debut under the "Modern Gladiator" gimmick. Douglas Williams debuted as part of Team International in the World X Cup.
Soon enough, these two fellow Brits would be paired up together and also have "Freak" Rob Terry join them for the ride.
The Invasion has won championships, lost members (Terry) and even split up at one point.
Now that Magnus and Williams have been paired together again, they should reign supreme over the IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team division.
Here's six reasons why.
Mic Skills
1 of 7Magnus and Williams can certainly cut a good promo: they know how to work a mic.
With Beer Money potentially splitting, you can say that the Brits are the best tag team that can work a mic.
Think about it.
Can Hernandez cut a good promo? How about Anarquia? No way.
Jesse Neal? Not really. Shannon Moore? Not without his book of DILLIGAF.
Motor City Machine Guns are out right now but Sabin isn't so good on the mic.
Magnus and Williams are almost light years ahead of the other tag team wrestlers in mic skills. No other team can hang with these guys in a war of words, that's for sure.
Face/heel Roles
2 of 7With those mic skills I mentioned in the previous slide, it is easy for The Invasion to get over with the fans.
Heel or face. Face or heel.
They have the skill to get the fans rallying behind them, or get the fans to hate them.
In-Ring Skills
3 of 7Douglas Williams is a very accomplished wrestler.
We've watched him win the World Tag Team titles once with Magnus, and witnessed him win the X Division Championship twice. We had the honor to see him become a Triple Crown Champion by winning the Television Championship.
Williams can get it done in the ring and is one of the best.
His Rolling Chaos Theory finishing move is something never seen before and is executed to perfection.
Magnus is still young and growing but is also a good in-ring worker. He hasn't had the singles success that Williams had, but he's just as enjoyable to watch.
Together, they are one of the most skilled tag teams in wrestling today.
Past Experience
4 of 7The British Invasion has been around the block.
They're no strangers to Championship gold.
All the stuff I mentioned prior to this slide, mic skills and in-ring skills, is from their past experiences and helps them for the future.
They've been champions before and can sure as hell do it again. They are a safe, reliable team to put the straps on for a few months out of the year.
Tag Division's Current State
5 of 7The tag team division has been sick as of late.
Beer Money seems to have run its course. The Guns haven't teamed together in almost a year and won't be back until 2012. Ink Inc recently returned form injuries.
The only teams that were available were Mexican America, British Invasion and the Pope and Devon.
Pope and Devon? Really?
I like them as singles wrestlers but not as a team together.
The division is still a bit sick with two top teams (Beer Money & MCMG) currently out. Ink Inc and the British Invasion can fill that void.
Motor City are two X Division fan favorites. Ink Inc are two somewhat X Division fan favorites.
Beer Money are two heavyweights can play face or heel. British Invasion can mirror that image perfectly.
The division is weak and it makes sense to have The British Invasion be the most dominant team because of their past experience as champions and everything previously mentioned.
Possible Faction?
6 of 7Douglas Williams, Magnus, Rob Terry, Mark Haskins and Winter are all good wrestlers billed from England.
Magnus and Williams make up the tag team, Haskins is in the X Division, Winter is a Knockout and Rob Terry has held the TV title in the past.
Last I checked, Paul Burchill, another Englishmen, is available for contract signing.
Sign Burchill, pair him with Magnus and make Williams a World Champion contender to cover all the titles in IMPACT.
Perfect plan for a revised British Invasion 2.0.
Tag Team Champions?
7 of 7Does The British Invasion deserve to be Tag Team Champions? Should they be the top tag team in IMPACT Wrestling at the moment?
Next week, I will present 6 Reasons Why Samoa Joe Should Be World Heavyweight Champion Again.
