WWE's Mark Henry, World Heavyweight Champion and the Era of Pain!

John KindelanSep 20, 2011

In Buffalo N.Y., at the Night of Champions, Mark Henry defeated Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship in a predominantly one-sided match. Henry dominated Orton, not with a series of technical moves, or high-flying aerial assaults, there was no bad calls or controversy involved; it was a beat down of the highest order.

The crowd in Buffalo at times had to turn their eyes away from the horror that took place before them. Bending Orton in half with the post, slam after slam, the champion Orton took punishment like no man on Earth should.

The cheers for Orton tried to rally him to his feet in hopes of mounting a comeback but it was to no avail. An RKO never took place and Randy's antics of twitching and throwing himself around couldn't save him this time. The Viper was de-fanged and put down.

Mark Henry will be the most devastating World Heavyweight Champion ever. His power, his strength, his ferocity is not manufactured or script driven. This isn't Goldberg who believed his hype and felt no man could stop him. This is not The Great Khali, who lumbered around sloppily and defended his title for a short time.

This is the man who can bend steel pans with his bare hands, this is the man who took out Big Show, Kane, Vladimir Kozlov, this is legitimately the World's Strongest Man!

Orton, as we've heard, has set up his rematch for Hell in the Cell, and while Mark has never been in a Hell in a Cell match, any time you get in the ring with Henry, it's Hell. He's thrown men through cages, so the confines of a cell seem less frightening when we know he can bust out at any time. But while Orton has experience in a cell, will it even matter?

The crowd loves Orton, they eat him up every time he puts on his Slytherin robe and twitches around the ring screaming parseltongue. I however am not drinking the Randy Orton Kool-Aid. I find him way over the top and find it crazy that those same people who cheer Orton are booing Cena.

I really see no difference between the two, same moves over and over again, hanging DDT, dropkick, RKO aka The Diamond Cutter and match is usually over. The rumors of his back stage antics, hazing and demanding other talent be fired making him look like the prima donna both in and out of the ring.

Mark Henry, however, has one face both in and out of the ring, and they are both ones you don't want to run into in a dark alley. His fear factor plays a huge part in his decimating of opponents; he fears no man and all men should fear him.

Orton has asked for Hell in a Cell, and it's not a question of whether Orton will walk out with the title, it's more along the lines of will he even be able to walk out of it on his own accord.

Mark Henry's Era of Pain has begun, he will accept all challenges, and each fool that comes before him will be crushed without hesitation.
