FC Barcelona: Eric Abidal Reaffirms Future with Club

Eric Abidal has confidence that he will be able to renegotiate his contract with Barca. Abidal has expressed a desire to remain with FC Barcelona for the duration of his career.

The declarations were published in the eMagazine SoccerNews.com. Abidal admitted that he has one year left in his contract with Barca.

Abidal acknowledged that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is interested in him after the contract with Barca runs its course. Abidal scuttled any possibility of a transfer to PSG by saying he is still under contract with FC Barcelona.

In a separate interview with FIFA.com, Abidal stated that his health will also be a factor in any future decisions concerning Barca. Abidal underwent surgery for the removal of a benign liver tumor in the beginning of 2011.

Abidal was sidelined during the past UEFA Champions League and La Liga season from March to May 2011. Abidal was able to return in time to participate in Barca's victory in the UEFA Champion League.

It would be interesting to see what will transpire.
