NFL Free Agency Rumors: Jets Appear to Be Front-Runners to Land Nnamdi Asomugha

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis pairing up with free-agent Nnamdi Asomugha would create one of the greatest cornerback duos in NFL history—now that's frightening. 

Revis and Asomugha on the same team? Could that really happen?

Sources indicate that it could potentially happen, as NFL Network's Michael Lombardi is reporting that the Jets are "serious" about signing Asomugha. 

There are several teams that appear to be interested in acquiring the services of Asomugha, including the Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and now the San Francisco 49ers have jumped into the mix, according to reports.

If you are a fan of any team in the AFC East or even the AFC for that matter, you need to hope that Asomugha stays as far away from the Jets as possible. The potential pairing of Asomugha and Revis would be frightening and frankly would be dominating against all passing attacks.

Asomugha is arguably this year's top free-agent prize and should cash in big time. However, if the Jets want to add Asomugha to their secondary, then they're going to have to clear up some cap space and Asomugha would have to take a little bit of a pay cut in order to join the Jets.
