Hey Bleachers, what's up?
As you can tell from the title, this article is about the WWE Championship match that has been scheduled for the Elimination Chamber pay per view between The Miz and Jerry "The King" Lawler.
As you can also probably tell from the title, I personally think this is a joke. I mean, I have nothing against Jerry Lawler, as I do like him as an announcer, but that's all...an announcer. This is one of the few things I am going to agree with Michael Cole on, that The King is better suited to being a colour commentator than a wrestler nowadays, let alone fighting for the company's main championship!
I mean, come on, the guy is 61 years old and will compete against a man half his age! Now I understand that the King has never really had a shot in the WWE but I think it's a bit too late to give it to him now, especially when there are so many other guys that deserve it more. I mean, on Raw alone there are guys like Randy Orton, John Cena, Sheamus, John Morrison, CM Punk and potentially guys like Daniel Bryan and Evan Bourne.
Now I know that guys like Bryan and Bourne won't get a look in for a while, if ever, and the same goes for Morrison, and that the other guys would be a bit too predictable, but let's face it: any of them would be better than The King.
Having The King in the main event also annoys me, as I can guarantee that The Miz won't get the win cleanly, and let's face it, he is going to win because—somehow—I don't think the WWE plans to have Jerry "The King" Lawler main event Wrestlemania 27. So straight away, this just screams out to me "FILLER", and when I say filler, I mean a title match to bridge the gap between the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania.
Going back to the point on The Miz not winning cleanly, this also annoys me because I like the guy, and have for awhile, and when he was given the title I thought he was going to be made to look a bit stronger than he has. What really annoyed me, though, was the way that WWE has made The Miz look very weak against a 61-year-old guy who has never held a major title with the company.
Also, I feel this match up has already been done too many times before. I will admit that the TLC match was very good between the two but was ruined by Michael Cole's interference, but to continually have The Miz lose to The King in various ways was just purely frustrating for me to watch.
So, lucky me, we get to watch the two guys do it again at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view instead of having a WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match for the title, to at least try and make The Miz look a bit stronger going on to Wrestlemania, but instead of that we have to watch this again.
All I can say is GREAT. Absolutely fantastic.
Okay, now that I have aired my grievances, let me know what you guys think by leaving a comment.
