Ring Rap With Matt: Shelton Benjamin Comments On His Firing and More!

Matthew HesterSenior Writer ISeptember 23, 2010

When Shelton Benjamin was released from the WWE, it surprised many fans that follow the squared circle. Benjamin is a very talented grappler that always brings the goods to the table. Out of all the releases his seemed like the most illogical one.

Recently Shelton opened up and commented on the situation. He seems to be in good spirits about the whole situation. Benjamin also was smart with his money, so he isn’t desperate for cash. I hope that we see him again in the WWE; he was a talented wrestler that never got a fair shake.

Here is what Benjamin said in regards to his firing

"WWE never made me any promises just gave me an opportunity to make money. And I made a lot of money, so (they) fulfilled their end. I am not bitter or scorned and I've got too much pride, passion, and confidence in myself to cry like a baby because i was released. Do I think I should have been a World Champion, HELL YES!, was I underutilized, without a doubt, do I have issue with WWE, NO! I NEED TO BE AWAY FROM WWE so I can grow are a performer. There are many things about that company that SUCK, but i got no time to be crying about it. I am enjoying a good life now and if history serves chances are you haven't seen the last on me in WWE even if I go elsewhere along the way."

Jimmy Talks about the success of his former colleges

Jimmy Jacobs, one of the top Indy star in the market today, recently spoke about the success of some of his former buddies. He talked about Daniel Bryan and Tyler Black. He is a class act, and he shows it in the comment he made.

I hope one day we will get to see Jimmy get his chance at the bigs. He is a talented wrestler that is not nearly appreciated enough.

Here is what Jimmy said about seeing so many of his colleges in the bigs

"It great! It's awesome! It's great to see one of our guys get signed up there. I mean we have (C.M.) Punk up there, Evan Bourne's doing pretty well, (Daniel) Bryan just won the U.S. Title, and Kaval just won NXT season two. It's great to see out guys shake things up there in the WWE. I had the honor of helping him out in his career earlier and I feel very fortunate to be involved in his final independent match with DGUSA this Friday."

Jacobs on Daniel Bryan's making it in the WWE

"Well I think a lot of people feel that he was a great independent wrestler but could and will never make it big in the WWE because of his size, look, and charisma which I think is crap. A lot of people feel someone like Daniel Bryan can't get over on a large scale but only on a niche scale. In my opinion if people like Daniel Bryan are liked by most people who have seen him wrestle on the independent circuit most people might like him on a larger scale too. That's what logic will tell you."

The Mudslinging continues

It is no surprise to me that things are getting uglier between Linda McMahon and Richard Blumenthal. It is a practice that has been part of politics since politics started. This time Blumenthal took of the gloves and called Linda a smut peddler and liar.

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal’s recent comments

"I believe that the people of Connecticut will be judging her fitness for office as they seek answers to these questions about how she marketed sex and violence to children, how she turned her back on illegal use of steroids and drugs," Blumenthal said. "How even now she refuses to acknowledge that steroids can have and do have long-term health consequences."

McMahon communication director Ed Patru fired back at Blumenthal with this statement

"It begs the question why in 20 years he never once lifted a finger to investigate or look into the practices of the WWE," Patru said. "I think it's transparently political. Everyone in Connecticut sees that."
