Thank God Favre's Not A Redskin!

As a Redskins fan, I have been praising the Lord all day. The Redskins have an owner who had been accused of many things. But, apparently, "ABSOLUTELY STUPID" won't fit anymore. I read and heard the speculation that the Redskins(meaning of course Daniel Snyder and Vinny Cerrato) were interested in bringing Favre to the Nation's Capitol. I also heard that the Cowboys were going to win the Super Bowl last year.

Thank God both were wrong!

Aside from the fact that I believe the Redskins don't need another quarterback, Jason Campbell is on his way to a fantastic season, Favre simply couldn't have helped the Redskins. I don't think he's going to help the Jets either, but that's beside the point, and unfortunately for Chad Pennington, no one will ever know if the Jets season's finish would have been the same as whatever Favre ends up with. Some of the stats would undoubtedly be different, ya know, touchdowns, and OH, interceptions too.

But I digress. The fact that Snyder and Cerrato apparently NEVER seriously considered making a run at Favre makes me proud to be a Redskins fan. Sure they traded for Jason Taylor, but that was born of necessity, it is well known that they turned down the Dolphins earlier in the offseason. But no crazy trades, or "WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING" contracts for free agents who can't really play(Archiletta, Loyyd anyone?). And, by the way, Snyder haters, there haven't really been any old, washed up big paydays for anyone in Washington since the debacle that was Bruce Smith and Dieon Sanders(Sanders was the much more realistic bust with this move as Smith actually played pretty well his 3 years with the Skins), Sanders in particular simply took Snyder for a ride and everyone knows it.

In fact, aside from Adam Archiletta and Brandon Loyyd(both players were actually hand picked by certain coordinators, neither of whom is still with the Redskins), Snyder and Cerrato have done a pretty decent job with player personnel since that particular disaster. Snyder is involved in a learning process, and sometimes it is painful to watch.

It's a shame the Jets apparently haven't learned from Snyder's mistakes. Good luck Jets fans. I don't see great things ahead for you. You may make the playoffs, but you might have made the playoffs without Favre. You might also go four and 12 again. With or without Favre, the Jets decided they couldn't wait for their draftees to take over the team and make them contenders again. They decided to mortgage the teams future, perhaps betting on the infamous "un-capped year"? Who knows for sure? But we do know they spent a lot of money, on some pretty questionable players. Faneca was as close to a sure thing they paid for, but he is an aging guard, can he really make a big enough of a difference to make his contract look appropriate? I don't know. But, maybe not. Bubba Franks? A savior tight end? Aiye!

They say Snyder chased after Chad Johnson, ok. That would NOT have made me happy. In fact, it would have pissed me off.

I am also sympathetic to Packers Fans everywhere. As I have already written, I am not much of a fan of the way Favre and the Packers leadership handled their issues. But the fans are the ones who will lose.

And so, the Jets get Favre, the Packers get Rogers, and for the Redskins?

Thank God they didn't get Favre. Hallelujah!!!!
