(Round 7)

Best Available: Donovan Warren, LaGarrette Blount, Jarrett Brown

.........................................................................................................................................................

5:34 EST: Hope everyone enjoyed the blog. I had fun doing it, though both my keyboard and fingers are about to go on a permanent strike. We should have a flood of great post-draft content coming in over the next 24-48 hours, so keep it tuned to B/R for everything draft related (including a 2011 mock draft.) 362 days away!

5:20 EST: Well, the 2010 NFL Draft is wrapped. The biggest day three surprises for me were how far LeFevour fell (6th round to the Bears), and Donovan Warren and Jarrett Brown not getting drafted at all. There are a lot of quality players out there who will sign UFA contracts in the next few days...and many of them will make rosters.

5:16 EST: And Mr. Irrelevant is...Weber St. WR Tim Toone! (RCMH audience was chanting "overrated," pretty funny).

Grade: A+

5:11 EST: Sean Lee, Navorro Bowman, and now PSU LB Josh Hull is in the NFL. He avoids Mr. Irrelevant by one pick. Most exciting two minutes of the draft start right now.

Grade: A-

5:10 EST: Erik Lorig is the Buccaneers last pick, at #253. The Stanford DE played only four games in his senior season, but if healthy, can rush the passer. Glad he was picked.

Grade: B+

5:07 EST: The Dolphins use their last pick of the 2010 NFL Draft of Austin Spitler, LB from OSU. Lots of Buckeyes at the back end of this draft. We're three picks away from the end of this year's draft...and my carpal tunnell setting in.

Grade: B

5:04 EST: Oakland drafts a Michigan DB, and it's not Donovan Warren. Stevie Brown, a hybrid SS/LB is coming to the Bay. So surprised about Warren...and feel bad for him. Had another year of eligibility.

Grade: B-

5:01 EST: And with their third straight pick, the Patriots nab Zac Robinson, the QB from Oklahoma State. Typical Patriots move...find a productive college QB in the late rounds and groom him as Tom Brady's backup. Still not sure why some of these guys are getting picked ahead of Jarrett Brown.

Grade: C

4:59 EST: The Belichicks turn right around and draft Kade Weston, another DT from UGA. All three Bulldog DTs go in the 7th round.

Grade: B+

4:58 EST: Pats draft Brandon Deaderick from Alabama. He's a solid 5 technique DT who could produce in the Patriots system. Great pick.

Grade: A+

4:54 EST: Colts draft Ray Fisher, a CB from Indiana. Fisher played his first three years of college at WR. Think those guys always have a chance. Not only is he athletic, but he has a feel for the position he goes up against...always a good thing.

Grade: B+

4:52 EST: With their final pick, the Seattle Seahawks draft Kent State's Jameson Konz, WR. If you Google image Konz, images of Lattimer from The Program and Heidi from the Hills come up as well. Not sure what to make of that.

Grade: B+

4:51 EST: One more Buckeye off the board, this time Safety Kurt Coleman to the Eagles. Surprised he was still on the board. A Senior Bowl invitee, Coleman had a decent week and a productive career at Ohio State. Eagles had a great draft, especially on defense (10 of 13 picks were defensive).

Grade: A+

4:49 EST: Jeff Owens, DT from Georgia, goes to the Iggles. He and Geno Atkins teamed up to form one of the most formidable fronts in the SEC last season. Another great value pick late in the 7th round.

Grade: A

4:46 EST: Doug Worthington, DE from Ohio State, joins former teammate Thaddeus Gibson in Pittsburgh. Good value pick, should make the team and contribute. Steelers have quietly had a very solid draft.

Grade: A-

4:44 EST: Wow, our first Ivy Leaguer of the day! David Howard, DT from Brown University, is a Tennessee Titans. If the NFL decides to scrap games and having spelling bees instead, the Titans will be instant favorites with Howard and Rolle.

Grade: C+

4:41 EST: Kavell Conner goes to the Indianpolis Colts. He's woefully undersized, but a three year starter and a very productive LB at Clemson. Could make the team as a special teamer.

Grade: B

4:38 EST: One of our first Mr. Irrelevant contenders gets snatched by the New Orleans Saints, QB Sean Canfield. Had a great senior season, but probably doesn't have the arm strength to make it in the NFL. His ball fluttered a lot at the Senior Bowl. Will probably just be a training camp arm, eventually delegated to the practice squad.

Grade: B-

4:34 EST: Ricardo Mathews, a high-enery DT, gets plucked by the Colts. He'll need to add some bulk (he's only 290), but he has the "want-to" to make it in the NFL.

Grade: B-

4:32 EST: And the RCMH crowd goes nuts for Ryan D'Imperio, LB from Rutgers, who is the Vikings last pick. Hard nosed, ultra-physical LB, could be a special teams contributor.

Grade: B

4:29 EST: The Seahawks take former Arizona State DE Dexter Davis. Pete Carroll has his hands all over this pick...don't have time to look it up, but I'd bet Davis had great games against the Trojans.

Grade: B+

4:36 EST: The Chargers trade up with the Cowboys and draft former Miami Hurricane TE, Dedrick Epps. Low 4.7 guy, he's got the athleticism...needs to polish up his route running/blocking technique and be more consistent in pass catching.

GradeL B-

4:32 EST: Stanford Cardinal TE, Jim Dray, is the newest Arizon Cardinal at pick 233. A pretty athletic dude (4.82 40) for his size (251 lbs.), Dray could work himself into the special teams, as well as certain offensive packages, mix.

Grade: B+

4:20 EST: Jammie Kirlew, an OLB from Indiana, is pick 232 to the Broncos. We're getting into Mr. Irrelevant territory. Guys in the mix: Sean Canfield, Stafon Johnson, Donovan Warren.

Grade: B-

4:18 EST: West Virginia OT Selvish Capers goes to the Redskins. Had thought he would go somewhere in the middle rounds, but like a few other guys this year, he had a draft-day free fall. Will definitely make the team.

Grade: A-

4:15 EST: CJ Wilson, a DE from East Carolina goes to the Packers. Whatever happened to KGB? Did he just get old? Production fell off a cliff.

Grade: B

4:12 EST: Back to back centers get picked as the Redskins draft Eric Cook. Some people thought LaGarrette Blount might be the pick there...will he get drafted? My gut says yes...

Grade: C+

4:10 EST: Reggie Stephens, a C from Iowa State, is the Bengals last pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. Can you believe there you used to be like 20 rounds in the draft? How did draft bloggers stay focused in the 1950s?

Grade: B-

4:08 EST: The Texans grab their second TE of the draft, this time Dorin Dickerson of Pitt. Dickerson got some publicity during the Combine for running a sub 4.4 40. His problem, of course, is that he's 225 lbs. Will have to find a position in the NFL, but a solid 7th round pick.

Grade: A-

4:06 EST: George Selvie, DE from USF, to the Rams. What happened to him? Was the man at USF a few years ago and was a projected first round pick. Jason Pierre-Paul came out of nowhere, stole the spotlight, and now Selvie gets picked in the 7th round. Draft is all about timing...

Grade: B+

4:03 EST: One of my favorites, Cal DB Syd'Quan Thompson gets picked by the Broncos with pick 225. He was one of the best corners in the Pac-10 and a four year starter. He's not a burner, but should make the team and get some PT.

Grade: A

4:01 EST: Another small-school CB, Phillip Adams from South Carolina State, goes to the Niners. Draftnasty.com loves this guy and called him a "legitimate sleepers." Also could add value in the return game. Great draft by the Niners.

Grade: A

3:58 EST: RJ Stanford, a CB from Utah, goes to the Carolina Panthers. Utah had a great showing in this draft...they belong in a BCS conference, along with TCU and Boise State.

Grade: B+

3:57 EST: A small-school WR of Anglo-European descent off the board, Marc Mariani to the Titans. Always feel a little kinship with these guys... 'attababe Marc.

Grade: A

3:55 EST: Another punter off the board...the third of the day. Matt Dodge to the Giants. Surprised that three punters have been kicked and not one kicker, especially given all the troubles NFL kickers had last season.

Grade: B

3:53 EST: Jamar Chaney gets picked up by the Eagles. Had sort of forgot about him. Was surprised to see him get picked so late. Apparently Chaney made it pretty apparent that his visit to Philly was his favorite, so good for him.

Grade: A

3:50 EST: The Skins try and give Donovan McNabb another weapon in former UCLA Bruin Terrence Austin. A light but fast player, Austin could provide a spark in the slot.

Grade: A-

3:47 EST: The slew of OTs on Day 3 continues. JaMarcus Webb is heading to the Windy City. His first name doesn't instill a lot of confidence in Bears fans...Sorry, Mr. Russell.

Grade: B-

3:42 EST: Former FSU Seminole Dekoda Watson is heading to Tampa Bay. Perfect Cover-2 LB. Great value in the 7th round.

Grade: A-

3:36 EST: Kyle Calloway to the Bills. Another Hawkeye, and the OT opposite Bryan Bulaga. Should make the team and provide some depth, if not make a move for some playing time.

Grade: B+

3:34 EST: Raiders add more depth their secondary with Michigan State's CB Jeremy Ware. Only thing you need to know about him? This.

Grade: A

3:31 EST: Mickey Shuler off the board to the Minnesota Vikings. Shuler is a big, blocking tight end who doesn't offer much in the passing game. Could be a third TE and special teamer.

Grade: B

3:28 EST: Lady Gaga, how did you get into my iTunes? And what the hell is a Disco Stick? (Don't answer that, please).

3:26 EST: Lions draft a DE from NC State, Willie Young. By the way, Donovan Warren has been my "best available" for the last two hours. Probably should've stayed in school, D.

3:24 EST: Chris McCoy, a LB from Middle Tennessee State is going to the Dolphins. Guessing Chris just got off the phone with agent and said three words, "South Beach, Baby!"

3:32 EST: Cody Grimm, LB to the Bucs, and Marquis Johnson, DB to the Rams. Grimm was a walk on at V-Tech, but certainly has the bloodlines to play in the NFL. Never count those guys out...he could be a poor man's Clay Matthews.

Grades: A-, B

3:30 EST: By the way, we're into the 7th round. The sound is off the TV. Big L (greatest rapper of all time) has been turned on. The finish line is in sight. I can taste fernet and feel the sunshine. Let's do this!

3:27 EST: One more QB off the board, Levi Brown of Troy to the Bills. Jarrett Brown still waiting. Had a chance to talk to Jarrett earlier this week and I asked him to sell himself to a NFL GM. His response: "I'm 6'3, run a 4.5, and have a rocket arm. What else do you want?"

3:25 EST: Another Patriots O-lineman, Thomas Welch of Vanderbilt. Welch will play OT in the NFL...probably the right side. The Pats traded up to get him, so they must like they see in him.

Grade: B

3:21 EST: Another intriguing pick. Myron Rolle, the FSU Safety turned Oxford Rhodes Scholar, goes at the end of the 6th round to the Tennessee Titans. He's certainly had a different path to the NFL, but he was one of the top HS seniors a few years ago, so Rolle can play. He'll make the team.

Grade: A

3:18 EST: Niners draft a WR from Arizona State, Kyle Williams. The team has had success with WRs in the later rounds (Josh Morgan 6th round in 2008), so hopefully Williams can be a regular season contributor.

Grade: B+

3:16 EST: Patriots draft an offensive lineman, Ted Larsen from NC State. Larsen performed reasonably well at the Senior Bowl as a Center, so pretty solid value here. Good pick from the Pats, per usual.

Grade: A-

3:15 EST: Interesting pick at the bottom of the 6th round. The Carolina Panthers pick up Tony Pike, the QB from Cinci, who at one point was considered a 2nd round pick. They already have Clausen, so the mentality here must be to develop Pike and then trade him for a 3rd or 4th round pick, much like the Chargers did with Charlie Whitehurst.

Grade: A

3:13 EST: The Jags add a designated KR, Scotty McGee from JMU (nice showing from them). Check him out on YouTube...has some ridiculous punt returns.

Grade: B-

3:11 EST: With their 3rd pick of the 6th round, the Panthers select Jordan Pugh, a CB from Texas A&M. Should've seen that one coming. Decent grade, only because as I've said, can never have enough DBs.

Grade: B

3:06 EST: Cardinals up with another pick. Seems like they've had a bunch. They opt to go the DB route (you can never have enough), and draft Jorrick Calvin, another Troy player. They always seem to produce 3-4 draft picks each year.

Grade: B+

3:03 EST: The Eagles get a big back to compliment LeSean McCoy in former LSU Tiger Charles Scott. Scott had a great 2008, but digressed a bit in 2009. If he used properly, he could be an effective big, NFL back.

Grade: A-

3:00 EST: Joe Webb, a QB/WR from UAB, gets picked up by the Vikings. He worked out as a WR at the Senior Bowl but looked very raw, as you might expect. Will be interesting to see where the Vikings put him in training camp.

Grade: B+

2:58 EST: Panthers grab another WR, David Gettis from Baylor. Panthers are definitely trying to find Jimmy Clausen some targets that he can mature with over the next few years and hopefully find some real chemistry with.

Grade: A-

2:55 EST: The Texans draft the water bug, Trindon Holliday from LSU. He's tiny, but lightening quick. He'll definitely get a shot to return kicks in Houston, especially if Jacoby sees more time in the offense.

Grade: B+

2:50 EST: The Cowboys add a DB at the bottom of the 6th round, Jamarr Wall from Texas Tech. He's had a nagging hamstring injury which hasn't allowed him to do much this offseason, but the kid can play. Solid value in this spot.

Grade: B+

2:47 EST: Antonio Brown, a WR, is headed to the Steel City. Brown benefited from catching balls from Dan LeFevour, so he'll have to prove he wasn't just a product of the system.

Grade: C+

2:44 EST: The Ravens improve their offensive line depth by darting an OT, Ramon Harewood. He comes from tiny Morehouse College so the transition may be difficult at first. Look for Harewood on the Practice Squad...

Grade: C+

2:40 EST: The Packers draft a RB insurance policy, James Starks. The big back from Buffalo U. is 6'2 220 lbs, so could provide them some value as a red zone threat.

Grade: B

2:40 EST: Good news: the 5356rd DE of the draft is off the board in the form of Danny Batten to the Bills. Has to be a practice squad guy based on roster numbers, right?

Grade: C+

2:38 EST: Dezmon Briscoe, WR from Kansas, goes to the Bengals near the bottom of the 6th round. Pretty surprising he'd go after his former teammate, Kerry Meier. Even more surprising that B/R employee Jeff Kneis had Briscoe at #48 on his prospect big board.

Grade: A-

2:33 EST: The Raiders pick up a LB (they traded Kirk Morrison to the Jags earlier today, if that wasn't mentioned already), Travis Goethel. An OLB for Arizona State, Goethel will contribute, at least initially, on ST.

Grade: B-

2:30 EST: Jonathan Dwyer finally comes off the board, to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Outstanding value for the Steelers and really shocked he fell this far. Should be the complimentary back to Mendenhall now that Willie Parker is in DC.

Grade: A

2:28 EST: Shelley Smith (a 300+ OG, not a sexy MILF), goes to the Texans. He was super productive for Colorado State, but faced some injury problems. Hopefully he can stay on the field...should be able to contribute if he can.

Grade: B+

2:26 EST: Browns draft a DE, Clifton Geathers. Geathers is a huge DE, 6'7 and right around 300 lbs. Perfect build for a 3-4 DE. Another good pick and the Cleveland Holmgrens.

Grade: A-

2:23 EST: Pete Carroll and the Seahawks grab former USC TE Anthony McCoy. McCoy failed a Marijuana test at the Combine, hence the free fall into the 6th round. Carroll must be confident he can keep him in line (though it sounds like he couldn't at USC.

Grade: B+

2:20 EST: The New York Giants grab another DE (like they need another), Adrian Tracy from William and Mary. Not sure if there is space for him on the roster...may be a Practice Squad guy.

Grade: B-

2:15 EST: Another Notre Dame lineman gets picked, C Eric Olsen to the Denver Broncos. Though he is a little stocky, with short arms, he's a hard worker and is technically sound. Should make the team as a backup.

Grade: A-

2:13 EST: Niners draft a big, blocking TE from Pitt, Nate Byham. The team took a similar player last year, Bear Pascoe, who didn't make it out of training camp. Hopefully Byham works out a little better...

Grade: B-

2:11 EST: ...And Dan LeFevour finally comes off the board! The former CMU QB is going to the Chicago Bears, where he will back up Jay Cutler. He has to pretty disappointed that he's fallen this far and that he's headed to a team with a young, franchise QB. Probably should've thrown at the Combine, Dan.

Grade: B

2:08 EST: The Jacksonville Jaguars reach a little bit and grab a RB from Southern Illinois, Deji Karim. Karim wasn't expected to be drafted, and Jonathan Dwyer is still on the board, so a bit of a surprising pick.

Grade: C

2:03 EST: Notre Dame OT Sam Young is headed to Dallas. The four year starter at ND caught a lot of flak from fans for never developing into an elite LT. He's 6'8, so he may be a little too tall, but don't be surprised if he is tried out inside.

Grade: B

2:01 EST: The Bills snag a DE from 1-AA JMU, Arthur Moats. Though he's a little short (6'1), Moats has some pretty elite speed. A little bit of Dwight Freeney in him. Like the pick as a 3-4 OLB.

Grade: A-

1:58 EST: Cleveland Browns add another offensive weapon, Carlton Mitchell from USF. Mitchell was described by the guys over at National Football Post as the hardest working man in the draft...was apparently catching 200-300 balls every day in the offseason. Hopefully finds a spot on the Browns...should have a pretty good chance.

Grade: B+

1:55 EST: Another QB off the board not named LeFevour. Rusty Smith from FAU, goes to the Tennessee Titans. What happened to LeFevour?

Grade: C

1:53 EST: Another solid value pick from the Carolina Panthers. Greg Hardy, a DE from Ole Miss, had first round talent but has major questions about his consistency and heart. With a 6th round pick, no risk for the Panthers and a potential for major reward.

Grade: A

1:50 EST: Redskins draft another TE, Dennis Morris More of a pass-catching TE, Morris caught 12 TDs last year for Louisiana Tech. Will be interesting to se the final tally of TEs taken in this draft...could be most in last 25 years.

GRade: B+

1:49 EST: Niners grab a RB, Anthony Dixon from Miss. St, with their 6th round pick. An intersting pick and will undoubtedly lead to a training camp battle with last year's 3rd rounder, Glen Coffee.

Grade: B-

1:47 EST: Brent Bowden, a Punter, is the Bucs 6th round pick. Punters are as valuable as anyone on the defense...field position is one of the most important aspects of playing effective team defense.

Grade: B

1:44 EST: Shann Schillinger, a Safety from D-1 AA Montana, is going to Atlanta. Falcons also added Matt Giordano in the offseason, so may be tough for Schillinger to make team.

Grade: C

1:42 EST: Rams kick off the 6th round by drafting a TE, Fendi Onubon. For our male readers, if you are watching the draft with your girlfriend (that's one helluva girlfriend), mention the word Fendi. She'll perk right up.

Grade: B

1:38 EST: On to the 6th round. So far, the count is: 0 cups of coffee, 0 pieces of food, 1 allergic reaction to Rory's cat. We're on a roll. Bring on the last two rounds!

1:37 EST: Packers draft another OT, Marshall Newhouse from TCU. Good to see that Ted Thompson is making a concerted effort to get Aaron Rodgers some protection. He's too good to go to waste.

Grade: B+

1:35 EST: Slight technical error, but we're back on track. San Diego Chargers pull of an interesting move and draft the much maligned former UT QB, Jonathan Crompton. Dan LeFevour is still on the board. Another QB free-fall.

Grade: INC

1:28 EST: Kerry Meier to the Falcons. The former QB for KU transitioned to WR once Todd Reesing took over. He's certainly not a burner, but with some work, could be a solid number 4, possession WR in the league.

1:25 EST: Reshad Jones, SS, is a Miami Dolphin at the bottom of the 5th round. A pretty fast SS (4.47), Jones could get a chance to contribute early. At the very least, a solid special teamer.

1:23 EST: Brody Eldridge, another TE, gets selected by the Colts. Not much of a pass-catcher, will provide value as an in-line blocker.

Grade: C+

1:22 EST: Chris Degeare, an OG/OT from Wake Forest, is headed to Minnesota. Most likely will have to play OG to succeed in NFL.

Grade: C+

1:20 EST: Campbell trade update: The pick in return to the Skins has yet to be announced, but it will be a 4th or 5th NFLN is reporting. JaMarcus Russell has yet to hear from the Raiders about the trade.

1:19 EST: Eagles make a nice pick and grab former UF Gator Riley Cooper. Big target who runs good routes, Cooper will see the field in year one. Really like this pick. Think he'll be a stud and is a nice compliment to Maclin and Jackson.

Grade: A

1:12 EST: Saints grab a Center, BC's Matt Tennant. Tennant is a little robotic, but he's technically sound, and we know how good BC O-lineman usually are.

Grade: B+

1:08 EST: One of the best players still on the board, and someone I thought should've been picked yesterday, Syracuse DT Arthur Jones goes to the Ravens. Ozzie Newsome continues his draft dominance.

Grade: A

1:06 EST: QB John Skelton goes to the Cardinals. From Fordham, Skelton has the strongest arm of any of the QBs in this class. Needs to work on his footwork and technique, but could be developed into the QB of the future, 3-4 years now.

Grade: A-

1:04 EST: Jason Campbell trade is confirmed to Oakland. Don't look now, but the usually incompetent Raiders are having an incredible three days.

Campbell will start from day one and should be a huge upgrade. Bold prediction: Raiders compete for a Wild Card spot in the AFC.

1:02 EST: Pack takes a TE, Andrew Quarless from PSU. I liked him a lot in Happy Valley...Packers may have the best TE corps in the league.

Grade: B

12:57 EST: Jaguars draft another DL, Austen Lane from Murray State. This guy has had a lot of buzz, so a bit surprised he was available this late. Doesn't exactly fill a need for the Jags, but can't pass on a guy like that this late.

Grade: B+

12:53 EST: Bengals take an OG, Otis Hudson. Only thing I know about him is that he went to Tony Romo's alma mater, Eastern Illinois. Definitely does not have the black book Tony has (yet...I have faith, Otis.)

Grade: C

12:49 EST: Steelers draft an OT, Chris Scott from Tennessee. Steelers need to improve their offensive line in a big way, though not sure Scott is the answer.

Grade: C

12:47 EST: Patriots get the name of the day, Zoltan Mesko, the best collegiate punter last season at Michigan. It's an obvious one, but needs to be said: Don't mess with the Zoltan!

Grade: C (5th round is still too high for a punter, regardless of name)

12:45 EST: Robert Johnson, DB from Utah, is headed to Tennessee. R.J. will have to be happy to trade in Utah for Nashville. Huge imp
