Fantasy Football Brothers NFL Mock Draft 6.0
It’s that time of year again. Tonight it is NFL Draft eve. Tomorrow the Brotherhood will be gathered around a few TV’s and even more computers all to watch the best night on television.
We will be taking it all in as stuff our faces on trays of buffalo wings and steak tips subs. I know I can look around the room and we will all have our silly little smiles and watch amateur athletes becoming professional athletes.
Tomorrow the hopes of millions of NFL fans across the world will live and die with each pick. The draft this year has a ton of depth, in fact the most in a few years.

Yes it is lacking in the QB department, but while there aren’t a bunch of first round guys this year there are a ton of questions that need to be answered. And that just makes for even more intrigue to a position that is so vital to the success of a team.
Questions abound at the QB position. Where will Clausen go? What round will Tebow land in? (I say late second at the earliest) Will Colt McCoy go before him? These are just a few of the questions that will be answered over the next three days. The QB position at the draft carries the most weight as far as fans and the coverage goes.
Teams can luck out and find their future all-pro QB, or a lineman that will be the face of the franchise for the next 10-12 years. Or for the unlucky ones, the Raider fans already know what is coming as they already begin to nod their head along as they read this.
A team can be destroyed for years after this weekend. Especially now more than ever in salary cap age, top 10 picks receive a huge signing bonus that can hang around the neck of a franchise for years like a noose, tightening as each year passes.
Teams too proud to cut bait and run from their trainwreck pick, only make matters worse. Yes your team needs a top 10-15 quarterback to win in the NFL but as history has shown us, a good QB can be found anywhere.
Peyton Manning was a No. 1 overall, Tom Brady went in the sixth round and Kurt Warner was bagging groceries so teams know they don’t have to give $50 million dollars guaranteed for the next five years because if they hit awesome, but if the team misses badly it will take at least 5 years to recover from that devastating bust pick.
For the record, I like Bradford and think he could do well sooner rather than later.
From a fantasy perspective, we are keeping an eye on a few things that will directly impact your league next year. The fantasy position that is always impacted the most by the NFL Draft is the running-back spot.
While this class won’t have more than two running backs drafted on Thursday, there is plenty of talent in this incoming class. Friday we will see maybe another back or two get drafted but it will be on Saturday that one or more of the RBs selected will help out an owner during the fantasy season and that will put them over the top.
Names like Toby Gerhart, Jonathan Dwyer, Montario Hardesty or Ben Tate. Running backs that have size, and speed.
Their measurables were not quite up to par but all of these guys were successful on the field, and truthfully that often gets lost in the hype of the post-season workouts and combines.
We will also be following the wide-outs and tight ends through out the weekend. Like the running backs, there aren’t a bunch of elite first round guys but there is plenty of guys we will be very interested to see if they land in situations that can take advantage of their skill sets.
At Wide-Out there is Dez Bryant and then everyone else. Bryant should have been a lock to go top 7, but he has made mind boggling bad decisions one after another.
I won’t blame a team for passing on him for his stupidity, since they are the ones doling out millions, but if he happens to land in, I don’t know say Denver then that would be quite interesting. I know someone in your draft will take him three rounds too early and just that thought has me giddy. The battle will be for who’s number two? Will it be Golden Tate? A poor route runner, that doesn’t play as fast as he should, but has great hands.
Demaryius Thomas, who played in a run-first offense, is coming off a broken leg, which is probably the only thing that will keep him out of the first round. Scouts love his elite size and speed.
Arrelious Benn has a raw blend of size and strength to go along with some decent sneaky speed.
Then there are guys like Eric Decker out of Minnesota and Damian Williams who just makes plays despite his lack of measureables.
My personal favorite is Taylor Price, a sleeper out of Ohio who could surprise some come Friday when he leap frogs some of the other names on this list.
Tight End is unusually deep this year as far as pass-catchers go, but like we always tell our readers heading into their draft. if you don’t get the elite guy, then you can afford to wait.
There is plenty of depth at the tight end spot this year and most teams can wait instead of reaching. It is really Jermaine Gresham and everyone else at TE this year.
Had Gresham not missed the entire season, he would have been selected in the top 15. I like Gronkowski, but I have a lot of doubts about Hernandez out of Florida.
