Spartan Hoopla: Michigan State's Delvon Roe Has Successful Knee Surgery
It wasn't quite obvious for most of the 2009-10 basketball season.
But Spartan forward Delvon Roe was in pain.
In each and every game. But he never let his coach, training staff, or teammates know exactly how much his knees were bothering him.

In fact, he hid the severity of his injury from Tom Izzo. He just wanted to be available to help his team.
There were signs that he was missing some pep in his step, but he continued to chug along.
That's a competitor. That's a Spartan.
Roe has had knee issues since his days at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, OH. The five-star recruit entered Michigan State while still enduring excrutiating pain in his knee joints.
As a sophomore, Roe could only hope to build on his success that he had a freshman under Izzo. With another Final Four under his belt, the second-year Spartan decided to go under the knife and lick his problem once and for all.
Or so he hoped.
Roe underwent a procedure late last week to correct his torn meniscus .
And it went as planned.
According to Izzo , he's happy that Roe's surgery was a success. The 6'8" 230-pound Roe's doctors said that they discovered no new damage.
That's cause for a huge sigh of relief.
Not only for Roe and Izzo. But for Spartan basketball fans.
With the majority of the nucleus that led Michigan State to its sixth Final Four in 12 years coming back next season, Roe's healthy joints are all the more reason for the State faithful to expect a return to Houston's national semifinals in 2011.
