2010 NHL Playoffs: Enough With Philly Bashing
The first round NHL series between the Philadelphia Flyers and New Jersey Devils moves to Philadelphia tonight. Naturally, the Devils fans will talk badly about the people of Philadelphia.
It's their favorite pasttime. It's something they have to do when both teams face each other.
There's nothing like going through Devils message boards, reading through the junk about Philadelphia fans being mean and unruly.

Many Devils fans whined about the behavior of Flyers' fans in the first two games at the Prudential Center.
Close-circuit to those folks. Get over it.
There are always going to be bad people anywhere. It does not just end in this country. Go to a soccer game in Europe, and those folks take it up a notch.
Fans get carried away during the course of a game. This type of act takes place here at the Prudential Center—by the Devils fans of all people.
Let's not get holier than thou.
These things happen when teams serve beer at games. Odds are, people would behave well if teams did not cater to the lowest common denominator by offering alcohol.
Don't expect teams to ever stop serving alcoholic beverages. They need to make a buck, not to mention paying those athletes.
Everyone notices Philadelphia based on so many incidents at games.
A few days ago, an idiot threw up on an off-duty cop and his daughter. Everyone had a reaction.
Videos show Philly fans beating up on a lost soul at any sporting event. There was a Flyers fan trying to fight Tie Domi a long time ago.
That city gained that negative reputation after booing Santa Claus at an Eagles game.
Those people should be commended for booing a fictional character—not ridiculed.
It's popular to go rip Philadelphia. Everyone does it.
That's not fair. A person needs to go visit that town before one makes an observation.
This visitor goes to that city once a year. He attended a Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park.
He witnessed fans being passionate about their Phillies. Fans will boo if they don't like what they're seeing.
What's wrong with that?
Anyone who pays that type of money can do whatever they want. From this point of view, it's better to have a reaction than being apathetic.
There's nothing worse than seeing fans bored at a sporting event. An arena or a stadium needs a lively place.
Devils fans boo their own team. Somehow though, no one cares, but in Philadelphia, it's a story.
It's ridiculous. Those folks don't deserve the reputation they get.
Go to any sporting event in New York. A visitor will experience the same reaction, if not worse, than the one at Philadelphia.
People spew out profanity at baseball games here. Yankee Stadium may be the worst place to go out.
At football games, brawls take place often at the old Giants Stadium.
We're no better than the people over at the City of Brotherly Love.
The problem is: We like to think we are better than others. It's the way it works here in this area. To be fair, all towns are like that, too.
If folks are going to bash Philadelphia, it's time to start calling other cities out for their incidents. It's a good bet this takes place on a random day in any town.
Of course, no one cares. It's not news if someone did this in Kansas City or San Diego.
If it's in Philly, it's news. It fits people's stereotypical view of the place, and it's great for headlines.
That town should not be tarnished. Philadelphia is a nice town with many friendly people, for the most part. Go to Broad Street and odds are, people will approach one another.
The behavior by several idiots should not define Philadelphia as a lousy city with lousy people. Same should be said for any town.
